Have you ever wondered what happens to all the holiday decorations around Disney World once the season ends? Where do the giant Christmas trees go? And all the garland?
Well today we’re bringing you a behind-the-scenes look at how one ICONIC Disney holiday decoration is RECYCLED once the holiday happenings have ended!
Disney World does A LOT of things well, and gingerbread houses are no exception to that! The famous Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian draws in lots of visitors every year. For many people, their holiday season hasn’t started until they see this humongous & delicious-looking home.
Recently, Disney shared a look into how they recycle the gingerbread house after the holidays — and you’ll never guess who they’ve recruited for help… .
It’s BEES! According to the staff, they noticed that the bees were sweet on this treat while they were bringing down the gingerbread house about ten years ago!
The gingerbread is broken down and taken to the Disney tree farm where the bees are free to munch on the sugary building material until it’s gone! That’s it. The bees are officially winning Disney World.

It would have been nice to be able to SEE the Gingerbread Houses (and holiday decor) this year. But … we weren’t staying at any of the resorts and didn’t figure resort meals into our budget. We actually cut our trip short and headed home early because we weren’t able to do most of the Holiday things we enjoy each year. MAJOR disappointment. They should have made an exception for Annual Passholders.
