2022 has been a BIG year for Disney!
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser started accepting guests, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened in EPCOT, and we got many popular entertainment options back — that all happened in the first half of the year! On top of that, we’ll be getting yet ANOTHER new restaurant in 2022.
A number of years ago, Disney announced that a new Table Service restaurant, Roundup Rodeo BBQ, would be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the Toy Story Land area. The story behind this spot is that guests are dining in a toy rodeo arena created by Andy in his backyard. Guests are meant to be seated inside playsets of a Western town with all kinds of fun lighting and details! The menu (as you might have guessed) is set to be filled with barbecue fare.
The restaurant was originally set to open in 2020, but the pandemic-related closures and more caused its opening to be delayed indefinitely.
Since then, it has been challenging to watch construction progress on the restaurant, since the area is hidden behind walls and trees. However, Disney did give us a pretty major update back in January, announcing that the restaurant would open in 2022!
Disney has shared that this restaurant will be a “unique, fun, family-friendly dining experience” where guests will be able to munch on some barbecue “while surrounded by a kaleidoscope of toys, games, and playsets that Andy has brought together to create his one-of-a-kind rodeo.”
According to Disney, once you step into the lobby and waiting area, you’ll experience “first-hand what it feels like to be one of Andy’s honorary toys.” You’ll then move into 2 larger dining room spaces where “Andy’s rodeo takes place. Here, the rodeo will be in full swing, with western town and train station playsets mixing with surprising, playful details, like some fan-favorite Pixar characters as they’ve never been seen before!”
So far we’ve only seen some concept art of the space, so we can’t wait to see what it will all look like once it’s finalized and ready for guests to enjoy! An exact opening date has not yet been shared, but we’ll be sure to look for more details and updates.
Things are very different in Disney World in 2022, and if you haven’t been in a few years, you’ll definitely want to get up-to-date on changes like Disney Genie+, the park pass reservation system, and the fact that some things are still missing post-pandemic. On top of that, Disney World is celebrating its 50th Anniversary all throughout 2022, and there are lots of special snacks, new merchandise, and even unique entertainment!

“Roundup Rodeo BBQ restaurant will be opening in Andy’s backyard in 2022”
Well that’s pretty vague, that could mean next week or the December 31st. I wish Disneywould be more specific on an actual opening date.

Are the actual toys building the restaurant late at night when no one is around? I realize the Pandemic slowed things down, but it has been over 2 years and the place has still not opened. Seriously, what is taking so long?
