We know exactly what you’re thinking: “Oh, please! Florida is WAY warmer than most parts of the U.S. right now!” You’re probably right. Florida is just about as south as you can get while still being in America. BUT, despite what many people may expect, it’s been pretty cold in Disney World lately! Typhoon Lagoon, Disney’s water park, has been closed due to the weather. Some guests are even walking around with BLANKETS wrapped around their bodies!
So yes, while Florida is comparatively warmer than, say, Michigan, right now, we’re still shivering in Disney World!
When you’re cold, what’s the quickest way to warm up? Eat or drink something hot! Our reporters headed straight for the hot cocoa kiosks to warm up on a chilly weekend.
Those Southern reporters of ours are buyin’ hot cocoa like it’s going out of style 🥰😂 Is 53 “hot cocoa weather” for you??? pic.twitter.com/Ak9vqqCBnv

Guess what? They weren’t the only ones with that idea! The line for coffee was longer than the line for some Disney attractions!
Seriously, the standby wait time for Tower of Terror was only 30 minutes. When people are rope-dropping Joffrey’s over Tower of Terror, you know it’s cold! But hey, it might be worth it to brave the cold if you don’t want to wait in long lines!
Confirmed— our reporter is still cold this morning 🥶 At least there’s no shivering for this beautiful sight of Tower of Terror 😂 pic.twitter.com/UP1SZQituF

Even the fairly new Alien Swirling Saucers attraction was practically a walk-on! To be fair, this is an outdoor ride that whips you all around. Not exactly something you want to do on a cold, windy day.
Need further proof? Look up! Disney has HEATERS installed all around the parks to keep guests and Cast Members warm.
Don’t worry, she found heaters at Sunset Market! pic.twitter.com/HM0n6eT9SR

Look at all those heaters in the outdoor seating area on Sunset Boulevard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom park has some outdoor heaters, too! Those big fans will NOT be necessary today, Disney!
Even Cast Members (who sometimes are wearing thick, heavy costumes) have little personal heaters to keep warm. It’s THAT cold, people.
Look at the (basically nonexistent) line for ice cream! One lick of ice cream and we *might* just completely freeze up like Anna.
Think you can brave the weather? Your strong, northern blood may fare better than the Florida natives! Although it is pretty cold in Florida, there are perks to visiting the parks on chilly days! Some quick service spots and rides have super short lines so you can fit more into your day. So bundle up, grab some hand warmers, and hit the parks if you want low wait times! We’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news and park updates, so stay tuned for more.

At the time of this comment, it is 54 degrees in WDW. If the sun is shining and it’s not windy, I would consider it good theme park walking around weather. Here in NJ it’s currently 33 degrees, whereas farther north in Alaska it’s 35 degrees. It’s bizarre.
