Disney World is constantly updating and changing attractions, hotels, and shops. If you’re visiting the parks soon, don’t be surprised if a few spots are closed for refurbishments.
So that you’re prepared before your vacation, we found every hotel, ride, and attraction that’s scheduled to be closed in Disney World in February. Some Disney World offerings can close without notice if weather or technical issues become a problem, but the closures on this list are all of the ones you can plan on before you go.
We’ll go through each park as well as the Disney World hotels to see what Disney has on their refurbishments schedule for the upcoming month.
Magic Kingdom
A few attractions will be unavailable for parts (or all) of February, including two of the popular mountain rides.
Splash Mountain
Splash Mountain is currently closed, and Cast Members are working on some construction and improvements to the ride.
This attraction has been closed since January 10th, and it will reopen for guests on February 11th.
The short closure isn’t long enough for the extensive Princess and the Frog updates that will be coming to this ride eventually.
Disney hasn’t given a date for that re-theme yet!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Another one of Magic Kingdom’s mountains is closing in February as well, but not until February 14th.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will have a short closure from February 14th through the 18th, so you’ll be able to take the wildest ride in the wilderness once again starting on February 19th.
Walt Disney World Railroad
But the other railroad in Magic Kingdom isn’t as lucky as Big Thunder. The Walt Disney World Railroad is still unavailable, and it’s scheduled to be closed for a while yet.
There isn’t a return date for this attraction, and it’s listed as closed on the calendar until at least mid-April (as far as the calendar goes right now).
The closure is in part due to refurbishments and partly due to the construction in Tomorrowland, which interrupted the railroad tracks there.
That construction is for the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster, which also doesn’t have an opening date yet.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest
Expedition Everest is currently closed, and it’s going to be unavailable for all of February.
In fact, this ride won’t open until sometime in mid-April 2022. There isn’t an exact opening date yet, but we’ll keep an eye out for more updates.
In the meantime, you can sometimes find Cast Members out front playing games with guests, like Connect 4!
Finding Nemo: The Musical
Finding Nemo: The Musical is closed as well, and when it returns sometime in 2022 (no official opening date yet), it will look pretty different.
Disney has announced that this show will be reimagined in the timeline of Finding Dory, the Finding Nemo sequel. The new show will be called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!

EPCOT
The only thing scheduled to be closed in EPCOT in February is a gift shop.
Souk-Al-Magreb
Souk-Al-Magreb can be found in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase.
This store has been closed for a while, but it’s scheduled to finally reopen on February 6th! Starting then, you can head in to find Morocco-inspired souvenirs.
UPDATE: Disney has since delayed Souk-Al-Magreb’s reopening until at least April 2022. According to the refurbishments calendar, this spot will remain closed for a few more months and potentially longer.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
A couple of popular shows are currently closed in Hollywood Studios.
Fantasmic!
Fantasmic! is a major nighttime spectacular in Hollywood Studios.
It’s unavailable right now, but Disney has announced that this show will return sometime in 2022. We’re on the lookout for an announcement about an exact opening date!
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Voyage of the Little Mermaid is a show inspired by Princess Ariel’s story.
It’s currently closed, and Disney hasn’t announced yet when or if it will reopen.

Disney World Hotels
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is the last hotel to reopen in Disney World.
It’s finally opening its doors on March 31st, 2022, so it will remain closed for all of February.
But you can book your reservations now if you want to stay there once it opens again!Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort DVC Villas
Some of the DVC Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa are currently under construction, with Disney adding new pull-down beds.
Later in the spring of 2022, they’ll start on some BIG renovations to all the guest rooms in the Grand Floridian’s Big Pine Key building. These rooms will be converted into DVC villas, which will open in the summer of 2022.
Select Hotel Pools
A few hotel pools are closing for refurbishments in February. The Flippin’ Fins Pool in the Little Mermaid section of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is currently closed, so guests can use the Cozy Cone Pool or the Big Blue Pool instead. (Both of those pools are also located at Art of Animation.)
Once the Flippin’ Fins Pool reopens in late February, the Cozy Cone Pool in the Cars section of Art of Animation will close for its own refurbishments. At that point, guests can use the Flippin’ Fins Pool or the Big Blue Pool. The Cozy Cone Pool is expected to reopen in mid-April 2022.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Samawati Springs Pool is closed for a long refurbishment that’s scheduled to last through April 2022.
In the meantime, guests can head to the Uzima Springs Pool, which is also located at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Disney World Water Parks
Blizzard Beach
Blizzard Beach is currently closed for refurbishments, and it doesn’t have a reopening date yet.
Disney World’s other water park — Typhoon Lagoon — is still open now. This park will sometimes close if it’s chilly outside, so make sure to check the schedule before you head in. As of right now, it’s showing hours from 10AM to 5PM each day in February.
If you’re visiting Disney World in February, watch out for those closures and refurbishments! And keep an eye on DFB to see all the latest news from the parks.

Phill says
Is there any way I can find out any closures that will be happening in September please?
Steve says
Pretty sure Stitch’s Great Escape will still be closed in February…the question is what will replace it and when?
Steve says
Phill, Sept is a bit far off to know anything closed (aside from the permanent closures) but keep your eye out on the “Closed for Refurbishment” section on Disney’s interactive calendar page. Choose the day at top; August is currently the farthest out available at this time : https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/calendars/day/

Ok, thanks

Splash Mountain still has scaffolding up today February 10.
