More and more price increases just keep happening to things that we love.
Disney World recently saw hundreds of price increases on food, and Starbucks just announced that they will have even more price increases this year when they already raised prices last month. And now, Amazon Prime is the latest to see a big price increase.
Amazon Prime annual memberships are being raised from $119 a year to $139 a year, according to CNBC. The price of monthly Prime memberships is also increasing from $12.99 a month to $14.99 a month.
Amazon hasn’t raised prices on memberships since 2018, when the annual membership cost was raised from $99 to $119. Four years before that, the price was raised from $79 to $99, according to CNBC.
New members will see the price increase on February 18th, and current members will be billed at the higher rate after March 25th.
If you don’t know, Amazon Prince gives members access to free 2-day shipping, as well as access to its Amazon Prime streaming service, among other perks. CNBC says the cost of keeping Prime members on the service has also become more expensive, saying that the company spends billions of dollars each year to add more compelling video and music content to its streaming service. And, Amazon has spent a lot of money building out its logistics and fulfillment network in order to accommodate more one-day shipping nationwide. Stay tuned to DFB for the latest news and updates.
