If there’s one thing we know about Disney World, it’s that they’re not afraid to go all-out to celebrate a holiday. For the 50th Anniversary, there have been tons of decorations, incredible shows, brand-new rides and restaurants, and more. Christmas includes its own entertainment and lots of decorations in the parks and hotels.
Now we’ve moved into a new holiday season. This is one that doesn’t always get quite as much love as the others, which is ironic since it’s Valentine’s Day! But there are still plenty of ways to celebrate the holiday of love in Disney World, including a LOT of new treats. We’re heading into a Disney World hotel to try out a NEW Valentine’s Day offering!
The Sweetheart Sundae is a new treat that can be found at Intermission Food Court (at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort) and World Premiere Food Court (at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort). We’ve seen a Mickey and Minnie waffle sundae before, but this one is a little different!
This sundae is made with a Mickey and Minnie Red Velvet Waffle and Strawberry and Chocolate Swirl Ice Cream. It’s topped with Hot Fudge and Strawberry Sauce and a dollop of Whipped Cream! It doesn’t get much more classic than strawberries and chocolate, so this sounds like a dream come true.
The red velvet waffles were fresh, warm, and delicious — even on their own! We adored the idea of having both a Mickey and a Minnie waffle for Valentine’s Day. In terms of the ice cream, the chocolate strawberry soft-serve was a classic flavor combination that was further enhanced by the hot fudge. To top it all off, the whipped cream and heart sprinkles finished the dessert perfectly. Simple, yet so good!
The big problem with ice cream and the Florida sun? The Sweetheart Sundae will melt FAST; especially with the added heat from the fresh waffles and hot fudge. Grab those Instagram pictures quickly, then indulge.
If you like strawberries, this is the Valentine’s Day dessert for you! For those that don’t like the flavor of strawberry, try asking if they can substitute your dish for plain chocolate soft-serve instead! We loved the red velvet waffles so much that we wish they were available year-round — they are THAT good.
If you want to give the Sweetheart Sundae a try, you can get one now through February 20th for $7.99. Keep following DFB for more reviews of the newest treats in Disney World!
