It’s Friday folks, which means things are winding down from a busy week, and we’re looking forward to a relaxing weekend. But some rides in Disney World actually decided to clock out a little bit early!
Magic Kingdom’s Splash Mountain was supposed to reopen today, but its return has been delayed. And it turns out, this isn’t the only major ride that’s closed right now!
As of writing, all three mountain attractions in Magic Kingdom are temporarily closed. Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are not currently operating.
UPDATE: Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Splash Mountain have all reopened in Magic Kingdom.
Splash Mountain has been seen testing throughout the morning, although Cast Members reported that it’s not ready for guests quite yet. At one point, they told us that they were still hoping it would open sometime today, February 11th. This ride was supposed to reopen today after a month-long refurbishment.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was open this morning, and it’s had a pretty long wait time since its neighbor Splash was closed. Many guests went to that ride when they found out about Splash Mountain’s closure.
But now, Big Thunder is unavailable as well.
Space Mountain over in Tomorrowland has been down for a while this morning as well.
We haven’t heard yet whether it could reopen today.
It seems like Magic Kingdom put all of their pixie dust into the new Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade (which debuted in this park earlier today!), and there’s not quite enough to keep the rides going.
As a side note, Disney World’s other mountain coaster, Expedition Everest, is also currently closed for refurbishments in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
To add to the struggles today, Rise of the Resistance over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also currently closed.

We were lucky and rode splash mountain at the end of the evening last night! It opened at 7:55 pm per a cast member. Not all things were lit and some water features were turned off. But happy we got to ride it!
