Ride closures happen in Disney World occasionally, whether for scheduled maintenance, bad weather, or unknown issues.
Expedition Everest is currently undergoing a lengthy refurbishment in Animal Kingdom and won’t be reopening until April. Splash Mountain has also been closed as scheduled maintenance is performed. It shut down in early January and is supposed to be reopening today, but the status of the ride is up in the air.
We got this message on My Disney Experience while in Magic Kingdom this morning, saying that Splash Mountain is currently unavailable, even though it is supposed to be open again today.
Online, Splash is still showing operating hours for today, despite the message.
But, My Disney Experience is showing that the ride is currently closed.
We went back to Frontierland to check out what’s going on, and the ride is closed right now. A Cast Member said that they expect it to open at some point today, but does not know exactly when that will happen. After a few minutes of hanging around, we did see that the water was running again on the ride track, so that’s a good sign!
The water is running now, we’ll be keeping an eye out 👀👀 pic.twitter.com/DZ9tA816Ng
