We have to admit that we hate it when our favorite Disney World ride gets closed for refurbishment, even if it just means the ride is getting some TLC to get it all spiffed up like it’s new again for guests.
In fact, it’s pretty normal for a ride to close temporarily for routine maintenance, which is the case currently with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closing today, February 14th, and will remain closed through Friday, February 18th for routine maintenance.
Luckily this is a short closure, so we won’t have to wait too long to get back on the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness!
We went by the ride today and noticed it was blocked off, with Cast Members hanging out to tell people that the ride is closed.
This sign actually says the closure is due to a mountain goat infestation😉.
Like we’ve seen with other closures, there were games set up outside the entrance to the ride for people to play.
We’ll let you know when Big Thunder is back open, so stay tuned to DFB for updates!

I hope they fix all the in-line features that are broken or malfunctioning. Most of the dynamite plungers and all on the canary in a coal mine displays were down on our visit 2/10.
