We are refraining from starting this article with yet another “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” joke and we’d like a little credit for that. 😂
Disney’s Encanto has taken the world by storm. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” charted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, it has 100 million streams on Spotify, and the film is returning to theaters to celebrate its global success. If you’re like us, one of the first things you thought after watching Encanto was, “This could make a great ride in Disney World!” And while the Encanto booth has been a hit at the Festival of the Arts, the movie has the potential to be a much bigger presence in the parks — at least one person seems to think so!
In an interview with The Wrap, Lin-Manuel Miranda (who wrote all of the catchy tunes for Encanto that we can’t get out of our heads) revealed that he has already pitched the idea for an Encanto ride to Disney CEO, Bob Chapek. This came after a statement where Chapek said that Encanto was Disney’s “new animated franchise.”
Miranda said he told Chapek, “I know there’s a world in which this casita lives in a theme park and we get to actually walk through it in real life.”
When asked about whether he wants a theme park attraction or potentially a Colombia pavilion in EPCOT, Lin-Manuel shared that he took his family to Disneyland pre-pandemic and sat through The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure about 5 times.
Miranda said, “That’s where my brain goes. It’s like, I want to go in and out of this casita and see those characters and see the house respond because that’s something Disney can do that no one else can do.”
Miranda said, “We are just enjoying how much it’s connected right now. There have been really no conversations about what is the next form for the Madrigal family.”
While nothing is officially in development in terms of an Encanto ride, sequel, or stage adaptation, we have a feeling lots of fans would be on board for ALL of it. We’re always staying up to date on all the latest in all things Disney, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

the problem with this is its an in the moment online and disneyplus fad…which does not make for a timeless attraction. disney keeps doing this kind of thing then its shortsighted…plus if it means at the expense of something else no thank you, they keep doing that as well and an attraction should not have to go for something else. This was not a box office hit, its just a disneyplus hit which really does not constitute popularity beyond outside of that realm much. The music was forgettable at best, its all tiktok stuff. You certainly don’t hear it anywhere else.

It would be great to get an Encanto attraction in animal kingdom …maybe featuring the music of Encanto and bursting through Antonio’s door..since he can talk to animals it wouldn’t be out of place…maybe we can step into a world where we all have his power and can hear what the animals are saying

Agree with Su. My family watched Encanto once and no one has asked to watch it again. I know adults don’t want to hear this but my kids repeatedly watch Frozen, Lion King, Cinderella, Mickey Mouse, and Cars. Encanto seems to be more teenager or adults forcing it because they don’t want to watch Frozen again.

@su says.. I couldn’t agree more.. well said and well put..

Love the idea, Encanto is so much fun and has lots of potential for and attraction or pavilion, there is also so many flower and food, I think is great

Agree to disagree. My grandkids and I love the music and the movie. The tunes are catchy, fun, and downright beautiful (looking at you, “Dos Origitos”). My granddaughter requested them just last night for bedtime. She said no to Disney Hits and wanted just Encanto, because she loved it.

Su is 100% correct. The “Tron” ride will open (if ever) years after the sequel and decades after the original. Just one example.

I think the underlying familial theme of Encanto make it a fantastic idea for a Disney attraction!
Anyone with kids knows this music by heart! And if you’re like me, an actively involved Auntie, I find myself saying “Alexa, play We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” long after my nephews have left my house! 🥴
Plus with Lin-Manuel Miranda in the picture, he’s got history with making things become pop culture hits!

It will be interesting where they put this ride. EPCOT as there is no “South American” country in world showcase? I think Animal Kingdom would be better, as they could create a “South American” animal/zoo exhibit; maybe tie it to “Up”?

Dos Oruguitas is my favorite too, Dene’! It’s so beautiful.

I agree with animal kingdom. It even looks like the tree of life in Antonio’s room. The birds coming in even looks like the flights of wonder show already there. Then again a great argument could be made for a ‘house’ ride inside the casita, similar to haunted mansion. Equally so, Columbia in Epcot would be awesome, with a whole ride-through similar to Mexico!
