Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser (AKA the Star Wars hotel) is opening up on March 1st in Disney World, and while we’re excited, we still have a lot of questions!
Who are ALL of the characters we’ll meet? How will the fireworks show work? How “in-character” will the Cast Members be? These are all questions we’ll be trying to find answers to once the hotel opens. Another question we have is about the food. We’ve already seen what some of the food is going to look like on the Starcruiser, but what happens if you have special dietary needs or food allergies? Well, we’re here to tell you!
According to Disney’s website, if you have a special dietary or allergy-friendly request, you will need to visit the Crown of Corellia Dining Room for a consultation once you’ve boarded the Galactic Starcruiser.
During this consultation, you can meet with a Chef or Crew Member trained in special diets. This is when you can discuss and plan for each meal you will enjoy aboard the Halcyon starcruiser. You have to complete your consult between 1PM and 4PM on the first day of your voyage.
If you required pureed meals, adhere to medically restricted diets (like very low-protein diets), or prefer a kosher or halal meal, you also need to email [email protected] between 7 and 14 days before your trip.
If you want to eat a plant-based meal that is made without meat, eggs, dairy, or honey, you do NOT need to have a consult. These options will already be available on the ship and will be marked with a green leaf icon.
Disney says they “use reasonable efforts” in their food preparation and handling procedures to avoid the introduction of the named allergens into your menu choices. And, while Disney says they do take steps to prevent cross-contact, they do not have separate, allergy-friendly kitchens and they are not able to guarantee that a menu item is completely free of allergens.
Also, note that allergy-friendly offerings are reliant on supplier ingredient labels and Disney cannot guarantee the accuracy of the content lists for each food item. Allergen advisory statements (for example, “may contain”) are not regulated, and are therefore not taken into consideration when developing allergy-friendly meals. Disney says it is ultimately up to your discretion to make an informed choice based on your individual dietary needs.
So, if you have special dietary needs or food allergies, make sure you visit the Crown of Corellia Dining Room for a consultation once you’ve boarded the Galactic Starcruiser. This way, you can make sure your meals will be figured out and can get on with enjoying your trip into a galaxy far, far away!
We’ll be trying and reviewing ALL of the food on the Starcruiser once it opens, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
