VIDEO: Catch a Glimpse of the INSIDE of Disney World's Star Wars Hotel!

We’re SO CLOSE to the opening of the Star Wars hotel in Disney World!

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser (also known as the Star Wars hotel) officially opens on March 1st, and we can’t wait to experience the immersive 2-night stay. In the meantime, Disney just released a video with some hints about not only the story behind the Halcyon starcruiser, but also an inside look at the hotel!

Disney Imagineer Travis Finstein and Matt Martin from Lucasfilm met to talk about the story behind the Halcyon starcruiser, which is the name of the “ship” passengers will “board” during their stay at the Star Wars hotel. According to the backstory, the Halcyon is a centuries-old ship that has recently been “restored to its former glory.”

The hotel is set between the films Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which is essentially the same time setting for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, or Batuu, in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. According to the backstory, the Halcyon’s first voyage was to Batuu, and passengers of the Star Wars hotel get to celebrate the anniversary of the ship with another journey to Batuu.

According to Finstein, the Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm have been working together for years developing the story behind the Halcyon, and passengers will be able to engage with the story while aboard the ship.

Martin explained that passengers are free to choose a path aboard the Halcyon, whether they want to be part of the Resistance, or the First Order, or even be a scoundrel. There’s even a love story on board! (Which characters have a love story??)

Passengers will be able to see many favorite Star Wars characters, like Kylo Ren and Rey, who actually meet again on the ship. And Chewbacca will be there too, of course!

If you want to learn more about the Halcyon before your trip, you can read the Halcyon Legacy comic miniseries, which is comprised of 5 issues that span the history of the Halcyon. The High Republic: Mission to Disaster is another book that includes important stories about the history of the Halcyon within the Star Wars universe.
