One of our top tips for planning a Disney World vacation is to make a list beforehand of the rides and attractions that you want to visit most. But how can you make that list if you don’t know what’s going to be open in the parks?
To help you out, we created a guide for all of the rides, attractions, hotel amenities, and more that are scheduled to be CLOSED in March. If you’re heading to Disney World next month, make sure to take a look!
For our list, we consulted Disney World’s refurbishments schedule as well as recent announcements made by Disney. Note that some unexpected closures can still happen in the parks, if there are technical difficulties or if bad weather pops up.
You can’t always plan for those unscheduled hiccups, but you CAN plan for the changes that we have listed here. We’ll begin our guide in Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad has not yet reopened in Disney World.
This is partly due to some refurbishments on the attraction and partly due to the construction happening in Tomorrowland on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster.
We don’t have a reopening date for the Railroad yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know when one is announced.
We’ve spotted testing for the trains in the parks, but this is likely to keep the engines running smoothly and not a sign that it’s reopening soon. The ride will probably not return until TRON construction finishes up.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest
The Expedition Everest roller coaster is under refurbishment right now in Animal Kingdom.
This ride has been closed for a few weeks, and it’s expected to remain closed through mid-April of this year.
Sometimes you can find games to play outside this roller coaster, like Connect 4!
Finding Nemo: The Musical
Finding Nemo: The Musical is closed in Animal Kingdom. When this show reopens, it’ll look very different than the show you remember!
There is going to be a new story, based on Finding Dory, and there will also be new characters and music. But some of the old songs (including “Go With the Flow”) will carry over into the new show.

EPCOT
Souk-Al-Magreb
The only thing scheduled to be closed in EPCOT this month is the gift shop Souk-Al-Magreb in the Morocco pavilion of World Showcase. This shop has been closed for a while, but it might be reopening on April 24th. That’s when it disappears from Disney’s refurbishments schedule, although we have seen it disappear and then come back up on the schedule on occasion.
While we hope it will return on April 24th, we don’t know for sure that it will be open then. We’ll let you know if Disney makes any announcements about its return!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Fantasmic!
The nighttime spectacular Fantasmic! is scheduled to return sometime this year, but we don’t have a specific opening date yet.
We do know that Disney is working on some changes to the show, which will include new character additions and some new stunts.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is not quite as lucky as Fantasmic! This show is still closed in Hollywood Studios, and it doesn’t have a return date yet.
We haven’t heard when (or if) this show will reopen, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear any updates.

Disney World Water Parks
Blizard Beach
The Blizzard Beach water park is closed in Disney World for some construction. Disney hasn’t announced a return date for this park, but it’s scheduled to be closed at least through April 2022.
But if you’re looking for a water park experience in Disney World, you can still head to Typhoon Lagoon!
Sometimes Typhoon Lagoon will close if it’s chilly outside, but we haven’t seen it close very often in the last couple of weeks.

Disney World Hotels
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is the last hotel to reopen in Disney World! It will finally open its doors on March 31st, 2022.
If you want to stay at this hotel after that date, you can make your reservations now.DVC Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
The DVC Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa are undergoing some big changes right now. Some villas are getting new pull-out beds installed in the rooms.
And a whole section of the hotel will be converted into 200 additional DVC villas.
We’ve already seen the concept art for these new villas, and they look luxurious, to say the least!
Disney has announced that the new villas (which will begin construction on March 1st) will open in summer 2022.
Pools at Select Disney World Hotels
Several pools at select Disney World hotels are closed right now due to refurbishments. At each resort, there are different pools that will remain open for the guests at that hotel to use. So never fear — you’ll still be able to get in some swimming during your vacation!
The Samawati Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is closed right now, but the nearby Uzima Pool will is still open. Samawati Springs will remain closed through April 2022.
The Cozy Cone Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is also closed for refurbishments now, which should be completed in mid-April of this year. There are two other pools at Art of Animation for guests to use.
The Schoolyard Sprayground at Art of Animation is also closed for refurbishments, but this one should reopen in mid-March, 2022 (although we don’t have a specific reopening date for it yet).
And finally, the Grandstand Leisure Pool at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is also closed. There are other pools at Saratoga Springs for the guests at that resort to use. This pool is expected to reopen in mid-March of this year.
Hopefully that helps as you plan your upcoming Disney World trip! Keep following DFB, and we’ll let you know about any unexpected closures happening in the parks.
