You’ve heard the old expression, “It took the wind out of our sails,” but what about “It took the splash out of our mountain“? Disney World is no stranger to a ride evacuation; popular attractions like Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean have been going through it lately!
During our recent trip to the Magic Kingdom, we noticed that Splash Mountain wasn’t, well, splashing, so we went over to investigate.
UPDATE: As of 12:30PM, Splash Mountain has reopened in Magic Kingdom.
One of Frontierland’s most popular attractions was missing something pretty major: PEOPLE!
At around 10:30AM, Splash Mountain was evacuated and guests were helped off the attraction. We saw some Cast Members around the ride making sure everyone was safe.
Here’s another look at the empty attraction.

The attraction is still currently listed as “Temporarily Closed” on the My Disney Experience app, and Cast Members are standing in front of the entrance to inform guests of the closure.
In the event of an unexpected evacuation or closure, Cast Members may provide guests with an “experience redemption” that they can use to ride another Disney World attraction via the Lightning Lane. Keep in mind that an experience redemption pass is not guaranteed.
We’ll continue to monitor the status of Splash Mountain, so make sure to stay tuned for more updates!

We were in Disney World Feb 20-26. We were evacuated from Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and missed out on our Sash Mountain Individual lightning Lane because of a 2 hour closure. We have been going to Dsney parks for over 30 years and never had this trouble. Also the new Genie+ system is terrible frustrating. We were able to book only 1 ride while in Magic Kingdom for 7 hours, and that was after attempting to get a time slot when we awoke at 7am. Awful system!!!
