What could you do in 3.5 hours? Run a half marathon maybe? Watch a Marvel or Star Wars movie? Watch around 7 episodes of 30-minute-long shows? Eat 10 DOLE Whips? Ride maybe 5 rides or so with 30 minute+ waits? Well, if you’re at Disney World, it might take you 3.5 hours just to do a SINGLE thing.
Yes, 3.5 hours do to one, single, solitary thing — get on a popular Hollywood Studios attraction.
Put on your patience pants if you’re heading into Disney’s Hollywood Studios today — you’re gonna need them! As we walked past one of the park’s most popular rides (and truly one of the most popular rides in all of Disney World) we saw some staggering lines and waits.
If you want to get on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance right now, you’re looking at a 3.5 HOUR wait. Yes, 3 hours and 30 minutes to see Rey, Kylo Ren, and Stormtroopers all caught in an epic battle for the fate of the galaxy — with you thrown right into the middle of it, of course.
So, Rise of the Resistance is at a 3 1/2 hour wait 👀 pic.twitter.com/lQjj4ltdmM

If this ride is a must-do for you and you haven’t ridden it already today, get ready to stand in line for a while. Grab some snacks before you wait and come prepared with some games on your phone and a phone charger.
We saw this 210 minute wait reflected on the My Disney Experience app, and noticed that the app didn’t even feature calculations for wait times for the remainder of the day (at least, not yet).
Also note that the Genie+ portion of the My Disney Experience app showed that Lightning Lanes were “not currently offered” for Rise of the Resistance. These have been selling out quickly in the mornings, so if getting a Lightning Lane for this ride is a top priority, you’ll want to snatch it up as SOON as you can.
Due to the lengthy wait, we saw another interesting thing happening by Rise. It looks like Disney is utilizing a bit of a space, which is traditionally a walkway, as part of the Rise of the Resistance queue.
We’re also seeing a walkway being used for the standard Rise of the Resistance queue 👀 pic.twitter.com/sQbw8NNrjP

The area that used to be an open walkway for guests to use to get to Muppet*Vision 3D was blocked off and added to the queue area just to the left of the entrance. The only walkway to the Muppets area was on the other side of a little island area.
Essentially, even if you’re not getting on Rise, prepare the lengthy line to cause some potential interruptions or complications to your usual walkways.

The line for rise was in muppets during Presidents’ Day week as well. And that wait time was seen more than once on our trip. Genie + was always gone if you were considering buying your way on.

Sunday (Mar 6), we boarded the bus at the Contemporary a few minutes after 0700, headed for Hollywood Studios. ROTR Lightning Lane was unavailable. About halfway through the bus ride to HS, the LL opened up at $15@. I booked the two of us into a 1015-1115 window. At 1045, we walked past the standby lane which reached outside the Galaxy near the Muppets. At the LL entrance, we proceeded through the LL corridor to the first room. We waited about 20 SECONDS (there were 2 people in front of us) before we were in the ride. It was wonderful.

In October (no lightning lane yet) the only option was to stand in the ridiculous line. It was our first time ever to Hollywood Studios. Cool ride, but standing almost 3 hours in the sun with 3 kids on hard pavement was not worth it. We were so exhausted we only went on one other ride and left. What a disappointing day.

Yes…wonderful. Say folks, if you would pay $15…would you pay $25? Maybe $35? How about $50? If the line is 3.5 hours…what do you think Disney is thinking right now?

Clearly, WDW has been transformed into the unhappiest place 0n earth. Too bad, it was truly a great place back in the 1990’s…

When so many are waiting i the line this long, does it shorten the wait for other rides and attractions? Can you get out of line to use the bathroom?
SKIP BRODHUN says
We have been annual pass holders for a number of years and will continue to do so. However, any ride that we would stand in line for more than 30 minutes to board has yet to be invented. I have seen suggestions that you start calling at six AM to get a pass! Please people this is supposed to be a vacation. I find that sleeping later and scheduling rides for late afternoon/ early evening works really well and is much more relaxing.

Hey, Skip! We, too, have AP for many years and have the same aversion to any line longer than 30 minutes. We, however, are morning people. Therefore we look for LL soon after rope drop. In the afternoon, we nap. In the evening, we’re at some fabulous dining experience, followed by bed. Yeah. we’re old.
Fortunately, WDW works just great for you, and for us, too!

On Feb 15. My husband I were in the queue for RoR. At rope drop for 4.5 hours. The ride kept going down and they finally closed it all day. We spent the rest of the afternoon in GE and had given up hope to go on RoR but it opened about 30 minutes to park close. We got up to the holding cells and separated into groups when the ride went down again. We waited patiently only to be told about 45 minutes that ride was down for the rest of the night and to see guest services for a return pass, which did us no good because we were only there 1 day
