Everybody likes to talk about the snacks that you can get in EPCOT and Magic Kingdom, but there’s one Disney World park whose food game is going under the radar…Animal Kingdom!
Seriously, this park has some pretty amazing snacks that you’re probably walking right past. And recently, we stopped by to try out one of our old favorites and see if it’s still as good as we remembered!
Mr. Kamal’s is a snack stand that you can find in the Asia section of the park. It’s right around the corner from the Feathered Friends in Flight show, and after you grab your food, you can enjoy the seating area right on the Discovery River!
But what do they serve at this unassuming spot? Let’s check out the menu!
Menu
They have a variety of bottled drinks, but there are two main snack items to choose from! The main highlights include the Chicken Dumplings and Mr. Kamal’s Seasoned Fries.Â
Both of these snacks are available for $5.99.
Food
First up, let’s try out those Chicken Dumplings! They’re served with ponzu sauce and fried crispy. Each order comes with three dumplings, so it’s a small-ish portion, but they look absolutely delicious.
They’re a pretty decent size and they’re suuuper crispy. There was a lot of filling on the inside, which we appreciated because it meant that we were getting all of the different elements with each bite we took.
The ponzu sauce was really tangy and had a nice zing from the citrus and vinegar. You get enough sauce to dip your three dumplings, but not much extra.
Moving on to the more famous snack of the two, it’s time to talk about Mr. Kamal’s Seasoned Fries! The menu states that they’re served with curried honey mustard or Korean chili ketchup, although there have been occasions in the past where we were able to get both sauces. This time, we were given two cups of the curried honey mustard.
The portion on the fries is pretty generous, and they were nice and fluffy on the inside. They aren’t very crispy on the outside, but they hold their form well. The seasoning is similar to Cajun-style, so it has a tiny bit of a kick.
The curried honey mustard was really delicious but definitely had some STRONG flavors. Since it’s served on the side in individual cups, you can decide how much you’d like with each fry. If you like the slightly spicy and/or curried flavors, you’ll probably enjoy it!
Two great snacks in one stop — but is it worth your time and money to check it out?
Overall
We really enjoyed both of these treats, and they’re perfect for when you’ve got a savory craving. This is definitely an underrated spot to stop, and it’s not usually too busy (the line doesn’t get more than a few minutes long). We highly recommend trying out one of these snacks on your next trip, and while you’re snacking, find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the ambiance of Animal Kingdom. There are plenty of seating areas on this side of the park!
