Spring has sprung at Disney World, and you can see it all around you like at the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival and with the hectic spring break crowds that have descended on the parks.
Another way you can tell it’s springtime is the wildlife! Birds like the Purple Martins are building their nests and preparing to welcome their eggs.
We’ve seen Disney add nest sites (aka free birdie hotel rooms) for the Purple Martins in places like EPCOT, but they can also be spotted at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. And now, on Wednesday mornings, guests staying at Saratoga Springs can take part in something called a “nest check.”
During these nest checks, guests will be able to learn about these birds from a Disney Conservationist and see the nests themselves. Complimentary bottles of water are included on the tour.
The tour meets in the lobby of Saratoga Springs Resort and begins at 9:00AM.
To learn more about purple martins and how Disney helps these birds, check out the video below! Spoiler alert: you’ll get to see BABY BIRDS in the video!! It’s TOO CUTE!

They’re free for the Purple Martin’s NOW. Once Disney figures out how to get them to use Genie+, they’ll get charged for staying.
Maybe tiny little magic bands on their feet? Now how can they get them to use the finger scanner. Maybe they can use the facial recognition system instead.

I saw the nest poles near Disney Springs on the boat from Port Orleans, and the nest poles in Epcot, during my February visit. I love birds (spend a fortune feeding them in my backyard!) and am so happy that Disney has installed these cute nesting colonies. It would be great to take the Saratoga Springs tour!
