What’s this? What’s this? No, it’s not Jack Skellington — it’s ANOTHER look inside of the newest ride coming soon to Disney World.
Seriously, Disney has shown us so much of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, from the queue, to the loading area, to the ride vehicles, but we are NOT complaining! We love seeing more and more about this new ride because honestly, it looks REALLY cool. And now, we have an even closer look at what it will be like to experience this attraction.
Earlier today, Disney teased an announcement about the ride with a short video, showing that something is happening on Monday, April 4th. Now, D23 has released a closer look at the queue area of the ride!
Here we can see the part of the queue called the Galaxarium. We saw a little bit of this previously, but now, Disney has released even more pictures!
This is a planetarium-like exhibition that showcases the connections between Xandar and Terra (AKA, Earth!).
Disney says the full viewable experience in the Galaxarium will be over 30 minutes long. Here we can see Xandar, Earth, the Andromeda Galaxy, and the Milky Way Galaxy. You can also see Star-Lord’s Awesome Mix Vol. 1 floating through space!
We got a look at the outside entrance area of the ride as well, including the doors as well as the back of that huge Nova Corps ship.
UPDATE: Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley has shared more photos and details about the Guardians of the Galaxy ride queue via Instagram! In his post, Zach shares that Disney was actually able to invite a small group of guests to get that sneak peek inside the Galaxarium. According to Zach, the Galaxarium is the “first scene” of the experience and the over 30-minute show here touches on how “the Xandarian galaxy, the Andromeda Galaxy, is similar to our own, showcasing the real science behind the formation of galaxies and solar systems.”
As guests make their way through the Galaxarium, they’ll be able to glimpse the Xandar Gallery (which lies ahead). That’s where guests will get the chance to “learn more about Xandar and its people, protectors, and heroes!”
In terms of the Galaxarium, it is, according to Riddley, “dynamic.” The room is organized around a “radial grid where Guests rise an entire level with sinuous ramping, allowing you to take in the media on the dome above from many vantage points.”
There’s also special lighting and other design elements that are meant to echo the aesthetic of Xandar.
And…the moment EPCOT fans have all been waiting for…Riddley has shared that he can’t wait for guests to see what is in this space and all that lies beyond “including some wonderful nods to EPCOT history!”
We can’t WAIT for this ride to open! Stay tuned to DFB, because there should be a big announcement about the ride happening on Monday. We’ll bring the news to you right away!
