The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex has hosted a variety of different sporting events over the years.
From NBA games to NCAA tournaments, the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex has seen it all. This year, it’s hosting another event.
Department of Defense Warrior Games announced via Twitter that they will be hosting the 2022 Department of Defense Warrior Games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The 2021 event — which was also supposed to take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex — was canceled due to COVID-19.
Disney World shared that these games will take place August 19th-28th. The annual event “celebrates the resiliency and dedication of wounded, ill, and injured active duty and veteran U.S. military service members.” The event will include those from international allied nations as well. The athletes will compete in “adaptive sporting events such as wheelchair basketball, cycling, indoor rowing, and sitting volleyball among others during the games.”
We wish all the participants the very best of luck, and thank them for their service! Check back here for the latest Disney news!
