Listen, we LOVE Disney World and Disneyland, but there are a lot of really cool things at the international Disney Parks as well!
Shanghai Disney Resort has things like the upcoming Zootopia-themed land, Disneyland Paris is celebrating its big anniversary this year, and Hong Kong Disneyland has a souvenir worth $2 million (yeah, really!). Another Disney park that is doing some awesome things is Tokyo Disney Resort, and today, a brand new hotel opened up that Pixar fans are going to LOVE!
The Toy Story Hotel is NOW OPEN at Tokyo Disney Resort!
It opened today, April 5th, 2022. This hotel was originally supposed to open in 2021, but was delayed.
This is the 5th Disney hotel at Tokyo Disney Resort, and the first moderate-level hotel at the resort. It has 595 guest rooms and is 11-stories tall!
The outside of the hotel looks like toy blocks against a cloudy blue sky.
The whole idea is that you’ve shrunken down to the size of a toy, like how it is in Toy Story Land in Disney World! Andy has assembled this toy hotel so that his toys have a place to stay and play while he is away at Cowboy Camp.
In front of the hotel is Slinky Dog Park, which is where you can find oversized toy action figures of Jessie and Buzz Lightyear that are nearly 12 feet tall (!!) standing on a giant Slinky Dog board game.
In the lobby, you can see slot cars racing on tracks overhead, a giant Bo Peep game board on the ceiling, puzzle pieces used to decorate the floor, colorful furniture, and more. This is definitely giving us major Toy Story Land vibes, just on a much bigger scale!
There is even a giant Lite Brite behind the front desk!
And what’s a Disney hotel without a gift shop? The store in here is off of the lobby and called Gift Planet, which is overseen by the Green Aliens, of course.
As you can see, there is a ton of Toy Story merchandise in here!
The Toy Story Hotel is so detailed that even the elevator area is themed! The hotel has two wings — one themed to Buzz Lightyear…
…and the other themed to Woody’s Roundup.
The guest rooms are decorated to look like Andy’s Room and have an oversized Mickey Mouse watch on the walls! Oh, and the television set is a giant Etch-A-Sketch. Can we buy one of these for our house, please?
At the Toy Story Hotel, you can eat at Lotso Garden Cafe, which is themed to that (not so) sweet strawberry-scented bear. This is a buffet-style restaurant that has food and desserts inspired by Toy Story.
The restaurant has murals of Lotso raising some happy fruits and veggies!
The back of the hotel is facing Tokyo Bay, and right through the lobby, you can climb stairs past an oversized Hamm and his Alien friends to enter Toy Friends Square.
Disney says this area “celebrates the beauty, wonder and importance of friendship.” You will find even more oversized figures here including Woody…
…Bo Peep and her three-headed sheep…
…Wheezy the singing penguin, and several others.
