We’re rolling into April and we are PUMPED!
This month is going to be an exciting one, especially if you’re visiting Disney World! What do we mean? Well, we’re talking special events, big reopenings, and all kinds of other unique happenings that you don’t want to miss. So to make sure you’re in the loop, we’re sharing the list of the big things you need to know about Disney World in April!
The Flower & Garden Festival is Still Going Strong
First up, we have to mention the hot event of the month — the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival! It kicked off in early March and lasts until July 4th, 2022. Throughout the next few months, you’ll get the chance to enjoy some delicious eats, check out the beautiful topiaries, and watch some unique festival entertainment.
And during your visit, don’t forget to stop and stroll through the gardens and shop the special festival merchandise! If you’re planning a vacation to Disney World this month, you don’t want to miss out on all the EPCOT has to offer.

Expedition Everest is Set to Reopen
What else is happening this month? Well, after a long three-month closure, Expedition Everest in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is finally set to reopen!
The ride has been under refurbishment for a while now, and while there’s not currently a set reopening date, the Disney World website notes that the ride will reopen in “mid-April.” We’ll be keeping a close watch and we’ll be sure to ride it as soon as it opens back up.
There Are Special Offerings for Easter
As for many other holidays, Disney World is offering some special celebrations for the Easter season! There are Easter snacks all around the parks and resorts — we’re talking lots of pastels and sweets shaped like bunnies, y’all.
And over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, the chocolate Easter eggs are on display, along with a new pop-up shop, The Grand Cottage. At this little snack stand, you can purchase a variety of seasonal treats to munch on while you check out the stunning egg designs.

A New Restaurant Is Coming Soon
If we get excited about anything here at DFB, it’s definitely new Disney World restaurants! And coming soon, we can expect a new arrival at Disney Springs — Salt & Straw.
The ice cream shop was set to open in March, but a specific date was never announced. We’ve been keeping an eye on the construction progress, so we’ll be sure to share all the details if it opens to the public this month. Between Salt & Straw, Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew, and Gideon’s Bakehouse, Disney Springs is the new dessert powerhouse!
All the Disney World Hotels Are Now Open
It has taken two long years, but finally, all the Disney World Resort hotels are officially open again! Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort reopened on March 31st, and it was the last of the hotels that we were waiting on to reopen.
But keep in mind that even though all the resorts are open now, there may still be limited availability for popular travel dates (holidays, school breaks, long weekends, etc.). We still recommend booking your resort as far in advance as possible to snag that reservation — if discounts or deals come out later on, you may be able to apply them to your package afterward.

Animal Kingdom is Celebrating Earth Day
In April, Easter isn’t the only holiday that Disney World is celebrating — Animal Kingdom is having its annual special offerings for Earth Day as well. This year, Earth Day celebrations will last an entire week, from April 18th-24th.
Throughout that week, there will be special conservation-themed drawings at the Animation Experience, new photo opportunities around the park, and a limited-time Wilderness Explorer activity. On top of all that, there will be specialty food, beverages, and merchandise!

Beware of Park Hours for Hollywood Studios
If you’re taking a trip to Hollywood Studios in the next few weeks, there are a few things you need to know about the park hours. First of all, the park is closing early (at 5PM!) on April 6th. If you’re planning on visiting that day, there will not be any nighttime shows.
Next, Hollywood Studios has been added to the schedule for Extended Evening Hours on Wednesday, April 13th. So far, we’ve only seen this perk available at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, so if you’re staying at a Deluxe Resort during that week, it may be a good idea to take advantage of this rare occurrence!
We’re Watching Some Construction Projects
These days, there’s a LOT of construction happening in Disney World. If you’ve been through EPCOT in the past few years, you know that the front half of the park is covered in construction walls, and we’re finally starting to see some of them come down!
Next up on the list of things set to open is the new quick service restaurant, Connections Cafe and Eatery, which will also be the new home of Starbucks in the park. While no official opening date has been announced, we’re expecting it this spring, so we’ll be keeping a close watch throughout April.

Spring Break Crowds Are Still Here
And finally, we have to mention the crowds. Even though the bulk of Spring Break season usually takes place in March, we will still likely see some heavy crowds into April.
Some schools schedule their Spring Break for the week before or after Easter, so expect more guests than usual at that time. We recommend planning your must-dos in advance of your park days and prioritizing those things during your visit, just in case the crowds get overwhelming.
