I could never dislike Disney World, but I don’t like some of the decisions and changes that continue to be made. Not only was it “The Happiest Place on Earth”, it was downright magical, friendly, and more fun than anyone could imagine. Our first trip was in 1972. Our kids were 6 and 4. It was incredibly hot. The only two hotels were The Contemporary. and The Polynesian. Our stay at the Polynesian was awful. The air conditioning broke our second day there and no hot water followed. I remember hanging one of our kids swimsuits on a balcony chair and almost five days later it was still wet. Damp, hot, crowded, and much more expensive each time we ate. (The Magic Kingdom was the only park at that time.) We still laughed and enjoyed meeting people in the 2-3 hour wait lines for rides and food. A few years later, we became Disney Vacation Club members and our trips to Disney became even more frequent. As soon as I saw the big welcome arch, I got more excited than our grandchildren. So, yes, we loved Disney World for a long, long time. A couple of years ago, grandchildren grown now, we realized trying to go would be difficult for us at our age. We gave our DVC points to a young family who were just beginning their love of Disney. I can only hope that they, too, will be excited when the magic begins. Thanks, Disney World. Please don’t out price the wonderfulness you offer. We miss you already.

Loved this blog AJ! Its so true on so many levels. IMHO Disney still feels pretty magical to new visitors, who have no prior experience and different expectations. It feels less magical to those who have years of history and memories of less complicated days gone by.

Disney World is still on my bucket list to visit again. I don’t hate Disney but I don’t exactly love it anymore either. Too expensive to visit in the way I used to and too many hoops to jump through., Genie etc. I have figured out a way to visit economically . Maybe again one last time, maybe.
