We’ve had some pretty WEIRD food in the Disney parks.
We’re talking treats that looked better than they tasted, some with some really strange ingredients, and even a few that looked like downright disasters. But some of the strangest things we’ve tried were (shockingly!) ice cream flavors…all from Salt & Straw at Disneyland Resort!
Salt & Straw is a popular ice cream shop in Downtown Disney, and coming soon, we’ll be getting a new location at Disney Springs in Disney World. So in preparation for the grand opening, we’re sharing the list of some of the strangest flavors we’ve seen in the past few years!
Roasted Peach and Sage Cornbread Stuffing
Let’s start this off with some of the seasonal flavors. The first is Roasted Peach and Sage Cornbread Stuffing, which honestly had a pretty great balance between the herb, the fruit, and the cornbread.
It was pretty delicious, but not quite as good as the other Thanksgiving flavors. (Which is pretty odd considering the next flavor we’re about to discuss.)
Salted Caramel Thanksgiving Turkey
Yep, you read that correctly…this is TURKEY ICE CREAM. How’s it done? Well, they take crispy roasted turkey skin, add it to candy brittle, and then mix the brittle into salted caramel ice cream. Thankfully, it does not taste like straight-up turkey because boy would that be strange.
The saltiness of that brittle worked really well with the sweet ice cream, and honestly, we’d order it again. (Wow, that was a sentence we weren’t expecting to say!)
Spiced Goat Cheese and Pumpkin Pie
In terms of “still a little weird, but definitely less weird than turkey ice cream” flavors, we’ve got the other Thanksgiving specialty — Spiced Goat Cheese and Pumpkin Pie. You’re going to want to be a fan of goat cheese for this one, but that pumpkin pie is the stronger flavor that comes through.
We got a decent-sized chunk of pie in our scoop, and we’re definitely not complaining about that. Gotta finish every Thanksgiving meal off with dessert, right? Although, we suppose that our ENTIRE Thanksgiving meal was dessert…that’s weird to think about.

Mushroom Muddy Buddies
More recently we had the pleasure of trying the Mushroom Muddy Buddies flavor. It was made with Roasted Hazelnuts, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Coated Cereal, and Candied Mushrooms, and we just knew we had to try it after reading that description.
In all honesty, it wasn’t the worst thing we’ve ever eaten. The mushrooms weren’t too overwhelming unless you got a big chunk of one, but it still doesn’t make our list of favorite flavors. Unless you’re a huge mushroom fan, we probably advise you to steer clear.

Black Olive Brittle & Goat Cheese
Back when the Downtown Disney location of Salt & Straw first opened, there was one flavor on the menu that left us scratching our heads — Black Olive Brittle & Goat Cheese. It was “strongly inspired by the ingredients available at local farmers markets” and was made with oil-cured olives turned into a salty brittle.
On top of that, there was goat cheese in it, which can be a pretty divisive flavor in general. It was definitely unique to say the least.
Creepy Crawly Critters
And finally, we have to mention what may be the weirdest flavor of all. That’s right, Creepy Crawly Critters. This one was a grass-green matcha ice cream “spiked with zesty orange, hiding tasty swarms of real bugs.”
Yep, you read that correctly. This cone included “dark chocolate-covered crickets and coconut toffee-brittle mealworms!” YIKES. That’s a flavor for the REALLY brave ones.
