Easter has arrived in Disney World!
We’ve been trying all of the Easter themed treats that have been popping up in Disney World, and we’re not done yet! We’ve tried a dessert featuring an underrated character, a delicious carrot cake cupcake, and a bunny blondie pop, but there are still more to try!
Over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, we tried two different Easter themed snacks at Capt. Cook’s. Let’s get into them!
The first treat we tried was the Hoppy Easter Cupcake! This is a vanilla cake with green frosting, jelly beans, strawberry marshmallow fluff filling, and a dark chocolate rabbit for $5.99.
The filling in this cupcake is very sweet but also very tasty, and had a lovely flavor of fresh strawberries. The vanilla cake itself is good, but ours was a tad dry. However, it did go well with the sweet filling.
There is a LOT of frosting on this cupcake, and that combined with the marshmallow fluff inside makes it an incredibly sweet treat. But, if you like frosting, you’ll probably like this!
Between the filling, frosting, jelly beans, and chocolate rabbit — there is a lot going on here in terms of flavor! It was a good dessert, but you have to have a sweet tooth for this one.
The portion size was also a bit small. You would think you wouldn’t notice because of how much stuff is happening on the cupcake, but we felt like we ate this thing in two bites.
The cupcake is definitely a great holiday treat that we think kids would enjoy! Or, if you have a mega craving for sugar, you’ll enjoy this. If you don’t like a lot of frosting, or prefer the ratio of frosting to cake be more even, this is not the treat for you. The cake gets lost under all of that frosting and filling, so it’s not very balanced.
We also tried the Easter Bunny Dome Cake, which is a carrot dome cake with cream cheese filling, white chocolate glaçage, buttercream, and a rice paper butterfly for $5.99!
The rice paper butterfly just had a slight hint of sweetness but it was a nice change. because these decorations are often made with chocolate.
The cream cheese filling went perfectly with the carrot cake! Because duh, those two things are a great match.
The buttercream is also smooth and isn’t too sweet. It doesn’t overpower the carrot cake! The cake itself was very fluffy and moist. The white chocolate ears on top were suuuuper sweet, though!
This is a great treat for Easter! The bunny is just adorable — so adorable that we actually felt kind of bad eating it, but not too bad, because we weren’t about to turn down carrot cake!
Overall, it’s a well-balanced dessert with the combo of the more savory-leaning cake and sweet icing. If you don’t like carrot cake, this one probably isn’t for you. But, if you do, this is a winner! And, this totally counts as eating our vegetables, right?!
