Does anyone else ever wish you could skip work, school, or daily chores and go right to your next Disney World vacation? We may not have a magic remote that can fast-forward us to Florida, but we do have some exciting news that might make time FLY by in anticipation! Recently, Disney announced that the long-awaited Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction is officially opening in EPCOT on May 27th, but the ride will see a few select passengers ahead of the big opening day.
Disney World guests who are part of a few select groups may be able to preview EPCOT’s first rollercoaster early. If you’re a Disney World Annual Passholder, we’ve got a BIG update for you about these exclusive previews!
Earlier in April, Disney World president Jeff Vahle announced that Disney Cast Members would soon be able to preview Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT. Now, it’s Annual Passholders’ turn!
Right now, Annual Passholders can book a reservation to preview Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Previews are available on May 8th through the 10th, May 15th and 16th, and May 18th through the 21st. Reservations are subject to availability. To get your reservations, head to Disney’s online queue and wait for your turn. There will be an approximate wait time listed on the page.
When your turn arrives, you will sign in to your Disney account, which will verify that you are an Annual Passholder. You can add other Annual Passholders from your Family & Friends list there.
Next, you’ll select the date and time for your reservation. Complete the reservation, and don’t forget to print out the confirmation page to bring with you when you head to the coaster for your preview! Note that you will NOT need an EPCOT park pass reservation on the day of your scheduled preview.
According to the Disney World website, Annual Passholders should bring their pass, a photo ID, and a printed copy of the confirmation page showing their reservations to preview the coaster.
It’s been a while since we first heard about this new attraction, so if you need a little refresher, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is Disney’s first reverse launch, 360-degree spinning “storycoaster“. The attraction is expected to take guests on an adventure through time and space in a HUGE building (we previewed the building — it is REALLY big).
Disney hasn’t revealed any information about how the new attraction will work with Disney Genie+, but we’ll be sure to fill you in when Disney makes an announcement! Based on the popularity of EPCOT’s other new attraction, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, we have a feeling this new ride is going to be VERY popular.
We’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so be sure to stay tuned for all the latest updates!

It looks like the annual pass reservations are already full!
Robbie S says
Thank you for the clarification about NOT needing a Epcot Park Pass Reservation. I secured my Guardians of
the Galaxy preview reservation then realized that Epcot Park Passes were sold out for my selected day. I love
the DFB Newsletter because you always have the latest information and answers to my Disney questions:)

It would’ve been nice if Disney would’ve given the annual passholders a time in advance instead of just dropping it on us at the last minute so that most of us miss out because it was gone in less than an hour typical Disney
Pam Larson says
I checked at 8am Pacific time and it was already full. Disney makes it hard on those coming from the west coast.
Martin rogers says
Also makes it even harder for international passholders
Jon P Milochik says
The one time that I could actually use an early access as I will be in Disney at the time, I don’t see the email until after everything is booked. I guess I have to wait 13 months until my next trip.
FL-Dad says
Pam Larson: I checked a little before you here on the Eadt Coast (right down the street from Disney) and it was full at around 8:30 am
Ellen says
And yet again, Disney tells annual passholders we’re at the bottom of the heap. DVC owners and D23 Gold members were given a day’s notice, and DVC was even able to pre-queue. APs … well, too bad.
Taylor says
I was able to secure a spot for May 9th, but haven’t received a confirmation email like it said they would. Anyone else?? Kind of freaking out.
DFB Gigi says
Hi Taylor! A few of our team members secured preview spots and were told it might be 3-5 days before receiving *another* confirmation, but never received the first confirmation, and on the other hand a few of our team members did receive a confirmation. I would check the junk folder just to make sure it didn’t go in there as well.
Lorraine says
And I suppose that Epcot will be slammed on preview days to the point of possibly not being able to hop???
JM says
If you don’t need a park reservation, can you still book fast passes for Epcot on the same day?
DFB Gigi says
Hi JM! Genie+ determines who has park reservations for that day so unfortunately, unless you have a park reservation on the preview day, you will not be able to book Lightning Lanes.
