EPCOT’s newest ride is almost here!
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is just weeks away from making its Disney World debut. The ride will open on May 27th, 2022, and we’re already starting to see some previews of what it will look like. We’ve gotten a look at the inside of the queue, the Cast Member costumes, and more! And now, we just learned some HUGE details about the story of the attraction.
Marvel.com just revealed who the villain is going to be in Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind! While this character has never had an official meeting with the Guardians before this ride, he’s got a deep connection to the story of this crew.

The villain of the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride in EPCOT will be…a Celestial named Eson, or Eson the Searcher! Eson actually once had possession of the Power Stone (one of the 6 Infinity stones).

Eson has been watching Earth, or Terra, for a long time, and he apparently wants to “right a wrong in a big way.” That doesn’t sound like a good thing. But don’t fret — the Guardians are there to interfere and save the day, and they’ll need some help from guests to get it done!

Other Celestials that we’ve seen in the MCU include Arishem from The Eternals and Ego from Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2. It’s cool to see such an interesting Marvel figure be at the center of a Disney World ride!
