Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is opening up SOON in Disney World — May 27th, to be exact! We’ve been waiting on this ride to open for what feels like soooo long, and the anticipation just keeps building because Disney has been showing us more and more of the ride. We’ve seen various parts of the queue, the entrance area, the loading area, and even the ride vehicles.
We expect it will be VERY busy in EPCOT on opening day (especially because of what Park Pass Reservations are looking like right now!), but we wanted to know if people were planning their trips JUST for the ride. So, we reached out to all of YOU and asked the question, and we got some interesting answers!
We asked our readers on Facebook “Are YOU planning a trip to Disney World just to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind?”
Let’s see what everyone said!
Absolutely Not
The most common answer was definitely a simple “no” or “nope,” which was a little bit surprising, but then when other people explained their reasoning, it made sense. A lot of people said they don’t plan trips specifically just around rides.
Some people also mentioned that they already had trips planned for when the ride is going to be open, but aren’t really hoping to get on the ride. They instead would love it if the new attraction diverted some of the crowd from the typically long lines at popular rides like Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
One reader said they didn’t understand why people plan trips around ride openings, saying that the ride will be there for a long time and it’s better to go during slow season.
Others mentioned that they wait a couple years before going on a new ride. One reader said they’re going to wait until 2024 to ride it in hopes that there won’t be any technical difficulties by that point. We’ll see! Rise of the Resistance has been open for years now and it still breaks down allllll the time.
And, some readers said they simply do not like riding roller coasters, so, of course, they won’t be planning a trip around the opening of Guardians!
It is a launch coaster and the ride vehicles turn completely around — 360 degrees — so it’s not going to be a particularly relaxing ride, that’s for sure.

Not Planning a Trip for Cosmic Rewind, But Want to Ride It
Another popular answer was from those who said they weren’t planning a trip just for the ride, but are going to be there when the ride is open anyway and are hoping they can get on it! A few even said it would be cool to get on the ride, but it wasn’t a big deal if they didn’t.
Others said they already had trips planned after the date that Guardians opens and they’re now SUPER excited they’ll be able to ride it on their upcoming vacation!
There were also some that said they would rather wait for TRON to open at Disney World, that way they can ride both!
We totally understand that, and progress is coming along on TRON, but we still don’t have any indication on when it could open.
Yes, Going to Disney Specifically for Cosmic Rewind
There were a decent amount of people that said yes, though! One person said they’re planning a trip to go to the grand opening because they’re more excited for this ride than anything that has happened in a very long time.
Other people said they live in town, so they’re not necessarily planning a trip, but have made reservations for opening day. And many people said yes, they are planning their trip to go on the ride, but have booked it for later on in the year. Some people said they were going to go in the fall so they could see Halloween or even holiday festivities happening as well as get on the ride.
A lot of people also said yes, but they were going to register for the early previews as either Disney Vacation Club Members or Annual Passholders. BOTH of those previews are now completely booked up, so we hope these people were able to snag spots!
One person said they’re actually getting off a cruise and doing one day at Disney World so they can ride the new attraction! And, a few people said they’re going to be there right before the ride opens and they’re hoping for a soft opening. We haven’t heard anything about a soft opening yet, but it could happen!
So, it looks like most people aren’t planning their Disney World vacation specifically for the ride, but are excited to go on it during their upcoming trips! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news and updates.

Any tips for park Hopper that day? It was already planned to go from MK to Epcot. Now I’m nervous we only wanted to check out flower and garden.

I wasn’t planning a Disney trip that weekend cause I wanted to save money but the minute I got the date for when the ride was opening, I booked a trip!
