It’s no secret that air travel has gone through quite a few issues over the last few years.
Flights have been canceled more often than we’ve ever seen before, and we’re still dealing with health and safety restrictions as well. Things seem to be returning to normal at Orlando International Airport, however, as travelers were out in full force over the Easter holiday weekend.
Many guests who travel to Disney World each year do so by way of Orlando International Airport (MCO). In fact, many Disney guests consider it the very first stop on their vacation!
According to Yahoo News, the Transportation Security Administration shared that Orlando International Airport just had one of its busiest travel weekends in three years — since before the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Spring Break and Easter crowds were most likely to blame, with one passenger sharing that they had been flying to Orlando to go to Disney World for years, and these were the longest lines they had ever seen!
Officials at MCO have stated that the Easter/Spring Break season is the airport’s busiest, and last year the airport saw a total of 5.2 million passengers. This year, MCO is expected to see a whopping 7.4 million passengers. It’s no surprise, as Orlando International Airport has been named one of the busiest airports in the United States!

We traveled through MCO on Friday, April 15th. We used the reservation for TSA and didn’t have to wait. Thank goodness MCO is one of the 5 airports in the US that you can make an appointment to go through security. Charlotte airport was worse than Orlando.

We were supposed to fly home from MCO to PHL Saturday 4/16 but were notified by text at 3 am by American Airlines that our flight was canceled. We ended up having to go to Tampa to leave on a flight the next morning.
