Disney has faced some CONTROVERSIAL moments in its past (some of which have included the Resort’s main icon — Cinderella Castle).
You probably remember the Stitch toilet paper-covered castle — a…unique moment in Disney history. But, perhaps no controversial Castle moment is more infamous than…the Birthday Cake Castle! And now you can bring this controversial piece of Disney history home!
During the 25th anniversary of Disney World, Cinderella Castle was decorated to look like a massive birthday cake. Some guests loved it, while others hated it. Regardless of your feelings about it, you could definitely say it left an impression on everyone who saw it.
We’ve seen that castle make a comeback of sorts recently through a unique MagicBand and a fun PhotoPass lens that turns the existing castle into the Birthday Cake Castle. Last month, we also spotted a MUG designed after the Birthday Castle at Disneyland. And then we waited…and waited…and WAITED for it to show up in Disney World.
Now we’re happy to report that the Birthday Cake Castle mug has finally arrived in Disney World in all its Pepto Bismol pink glory!
The mug features a design based on the 25th anniversary castle. You’ll find a whole bunch of Mickeys scattered throughout, as well as other designs that’ll make you feel like you’re reliving the Birthday Cake Castle time all over again!
It’s a fun souvenir with a vintage vibe! If you want to grab this mug for yourself, we found it at Creations Shop at EPCOT and Riverside Depot at Disney’s Animal Kingdom for $22.99.
WE FINALLY FOUND IT! 🎉 The Birthday Cake Castle mug has been spotted in EPCOT and Animal Kingdom this morning! 🎂

Margaret Gordon says
Oh, the horror! We came to the MK during the 25th Anniversary, and saw the Cake Castle in all its…well, can’t say glory. Our primary thought was that whoever designed it saw it upon completion and said, “Oh, my God, what have I done?” We felt sorry for people whose only trip ever to WDW included this Castle.
That said, I thought the mug was kind of cute, since time has blunted the impact of the original view.
