In 2021, Disney made a commitment to inclusivity with their Reimagine Tomorrow program.
As part of this program, Disney added advisories on Disney+ to warn about culturally insensitive material, and projects such as an alliance between ESPN and My Brother’s Keeper and the Disney Dreamer’s Academy have been established to help African-American youths. Disney was also recently recognized for disability representation in two Marvel projects, and in Disney Parks, you can not only find inclusive merchandise, but other forms of representation too!
If you’ve paid a visit to Creations Shop in EPCOT, you might have missed the disability representation you can find throughout the store. Creations Shop is EPCOT’s newest store, and inside you can find a variety of Disney merchandise.
There are mannequins in various places around Creations Shop, and if you look closely you can see the efforts Disney has made to represent a diverse group of individuals.
During a recent visit, we spotted a mannequin sitting in a wheelchair, wearing a beautiful crown of flowers.
We also noticed a mannequin sporting a cochlear implant, a device intended to assist individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
