If there’s one thing you can count on in Disney World, it’s to expect the unexpected.
Among the unexpected news this week we saw several popular rides temporarily close, a surprise celebrity role in a new EPCOT ride, and a HUGE Halloween announcement! Are you ready to jump right into it?
What was going on with rides this week??
We understand that rides temporarily close all the time in Disney World, but when multiple rides close in one park…it’s a little odd! And this week Disney’s Hollywood Studios ran into trouble when Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, AND Rise of the Resistance all went down around the same time.
A Cast Member told us that both Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster were closed due to technical difficulties, which is a common reason for temporary ride closures. All three rides opened again later in the day, but it was unexpected to see three of the most popular rides in Disney World closed at once!

Terry Crews will be in Guardians!
Terry Crews, who you might remember from shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Arrested Development, will have a role in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction in EPCOT! He will play the role of “Centurion Tal Marik, Commander of the Starcharter and close advisor to Nova Prime.”
When it comes to the story behind Cosmic Rewind, all we know so far is that it involves a tour of the Wonders of Xandar pavilion, and then a villain attacks and riders must save the galaxy. We’ll have to wait and see his performance when Guardians of the Galaxy opens next month!

Moana Attraction Construction Progress
The EPCOT transformation is still in progress, but this week we saw an unexpected development with the Journey of Water attraction, which is inspired by Moana. It will be a walk through attraction featuring interactive forms of water, and we saw something new from our view on the Monorail!
It looks like some kind of rock structure is now being built in the attraction’s area, but we can’t quite tell what it will be just yet. It’s still exciting to see this long-awaited project moving forward and we can’t wait to see the finished product!

Poor Gail says
You may have discussed this and I missed it, but I was told by a Cast Member yesterday that in October the Disability Pass rules will change. Some problems, like mobility issues, will no longer be included. Instead we will be given an “offer” on ECVs and wheelchairs. I took that to mean some kind of discount. The Guest Services line was too long behind me to grill him on details, but I thought I would give out a heads up.
