Your Disney World or Disneyland hotel stay (or even your time at home!) is about to get more interesting!
Not long ago, we shared that Disney will be debuting a new digital service called Hey, Disney!, developed in partnership with Amazon’s Alexa devices. Hey, Disney! will be installed in all Disney World and Disneyland hotel rooms, and we’ve previously gotten a sneak peek at some of the things it can do. But today we got another special look at Hey, Disney! in action. Want to know what this service is all about and how it’ll change your hotel stay? You’re in the right place!
Never heard of Hey, Disney! before? No problem. Here are the basics. Hey, Disney! is Disney’s brand NEW digital voice assistant being developed in partnership with Amazon and its Alexa devices. The Hey, Disney! service will be coming to all Disney World and Disneyland Resort rooms.
It will also be made available for guests to use at home through their own Amazon Alexa devices. Specifically, the service will be available to purchase through the Amazon Alexa skill store so guests can engage with the service from their own homes.
According to the product director for Hey, Disney! this is just the “first step into the resort experience of tomorrow.”
Hey, Disney! will do 2 key things. First, it will help guests with things they might need during their resort stay. For example, guests will be able to tell Hey, Disney! that they need 2 more towels for their resort room and essentially make that request through Hey, Disney! That request will then get fulfilled by the resort.

But Hey, Disney! will also let guests interact with some of their favorite characters in new ways. There will be a variety of characters available through Hey, Disney! including some favorites from Disney animation, Pixar, Star Wars, the Muppets, and Marvel.
For example, you might ask Hey, Disney! what the weather will be like and get some comments from Olaf about just how much he loves warm weather! Or you’ll set an alarm, but don’t worry — Dory won’t forget about it this time!
You’ll also be able to ask Hey, Disney! to tell you jokes.
If you’re in the mood for a space joke, you could even ask for a Chewbacca joke and you might just get a hilarious bit of commentary from C-3PO and more.
There will also be Disney Trivia available, allowing for some friendly competition between you and your family members…
…soundscapes, which will transport you into the worlds of your favorite characters with ambient sounds and music…
…a collection of stories to listen to…
…and even Magic Moments, an offering that’ll let you “go on adventures” with some of your favorite Disney friends.
Hey, Disney! may also greet guests with a fun character message upon their arrival, or a departure message at the end of their stay. Each day, when you come back from the parks, you might just find a fun character message waiting for you. You never know who might have stopped by to say “hello!”
These messages can even be tailored to different holidays. We got to hear what a character message just might sound like on a day like today — May the 4th (Star Wars Day).
With Hey Disney! you will even be able to receive messages from some of your favorite Disney characters just like this… ☺️#mediaevent #DisneyWorld50 pic.twitter.com/71oXxXG8NH

And that’s not all. MagicBand+, which will debut in Disney World this summer, will actually connect with Hey, Disney! later this year and will make certain experiences a little extra magical.

I’m so excited I almost dislocated my jaw yawning!
Like so many others I have this feature on my phone, and to date I’ve used it for exactly two thing:s . One is to ask about “today’s weather” — which is usually redundant as I can get that on my computer with a single click. And a few years ago in an unfamiliar city I used it to get directions. That’s it!

Whenever I hear new feature added to resort rooms all I here is the cash register singing Cha-Ching!

Will you have the option of not using Alexa in your room? Alexa has been known to listen to conversations, answer questions that you didn’t ask and talk in the middle of the night. So I’m not really a fan of this technology. Is there anyway that you can request at the front desk not to have Alexa turned on in your guest room?
