This year we’ve already seen major updates on restrictions being lifted that were put in place due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Disney Cruise Line just updated their testing requirements and announced Alaska cruises are returning, and just about a month ago, we saw the mandate of masks on public Disney transportation lifted, but that may not be permanent. Now we have more numbers showing that another thing is making a major comeback — travel.
Orlando International Airport (MCO) has just reported a 65% increase in traffic compared to last year’s first quarter. During the first 3 months of 2o22, the airport welcomed 11.6 million guests, with the largest amount of rebound traffic coming from international travelers — a 421% increase.
The surge in international travel is thought to partly be because of the reopening of some international borders, allowing MCO to regain 148 of the 15o service destinations they offered prior to COVID. In March alone, international travelers jumped 482.53%, with domestic travelers jumping 35.5%.
