Think you have your upcoming Disney World vacation completely planned out and ready to go? Think again!
We don’t doubt that you have some awesome planning skills, we just know that Disney can change things at the last minute and there might be some things you aren’t prepared for, like how to book Genie+, which rides are now using Genie+ instead of individual Lighting Lanes, and the showtimes for certain entertainment. You also want to pay attention to what’s CLOSED in Disney World while you’re there, so let’s take a look at what is going to be closed in Disney World next week!
Magic Kingdom
The Barber Shop in Magic Kingdom has remained closed since the parks shut down in 2020, BUT it will be reopening soon! Harmony Barber Shop will reopen on July 31st of this year, and you can start making reservations again on June 28th. Not only will this spot be returning, but the “My First Haircut” experience will be getting an extra dose of magic and special pixie dust in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration! So, you’ll only have to wait a little bit longer to grab a haircut again.
The Walt Disney World Railroad is STILL closed in Magic Kingdom, and Disney has not yet announced when it will reopen. We have seen some promising signs, like the trains testing around Fantasyland. However, one of the main reasons for this closure is due to the construction on TRON in Tomorrowland making the train tracks inaccessible. So, we don’t think the railroad is going to open officially until construction on TRON is complete. Things seem to be moving along fairy well, but we do not have an opening date yet!
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is another spot that has remained closed in Magic Kingdom since the closures in 2020, but we DO know that the spot will be reopening sometime this year! No specific date yet, but at least we know it will be sometime not too far in the future.
Right now, you can still get some special pixie dust over at Sir Mickey’s in Fantasyland if you want some! Just ask a Cast Member.

Animal Kingdom
Over in Animal Kingdom, the Finding Nemo Musical has been closed for a couple years. We previously found out that the show would be getting a bit of a makeover, with new songs and storylines (but don’t worry, the classics are still in there!). Now, we know that the reimagined Finding Nemo show (which is called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!), will debut in on June 13th, 2022! It’s coming up soon, folks!
TriceraTop Spin will be closing soon in Animal Kingdom. It’s just a short closure, though! From June 13th through June 17th, the dino ride will be closed.
But, it is showing hours again on June 18th — so you’ll be able to ride it then if the schedule stays the same! We’ll make sure to update you if anything changes.

Hollywood Studios
Fantasmic! continues to be closed in Hollywood Studios, and while we don’t know when it will officially return, we DO know that it is coming back! Disney said the nighttime show will be returning to the park in 2022, and it will be returning with some upgrades, like a new segment, and new characters, technical enhancements, animation, and more.
We’ll let you know as soon as we have more details on the return of the show, but for now, you can watch the Wonderful World of Animation at Hollywood Studios at 9PM each night.
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is still closed in Hollywood Studios as well. Disney has given no updates on if or when this show will reopen.

Water Parks
Blizzard Beach remains closed in Disney World, meaning the only water park open right now is Typhoon Lagoon. Blizzard Beach shut down at the very beginning of this year for refurbishment, and there is still no word on when it will reopen.
But, don’t worry, you can still cool down over at Typhoon Lagoon in the wave pool, lazy river, or even with a Hei Hei Cone! And, the water park’s H20 Glow Nights have returned as well.

Disney World Hotels
Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, there are currently 200 new DVC Resort Studios being built in the Big Pine Key building! So, while this is closed for renovations, the other rooms at the hotel are still available to be booked.
The new rooms will be opening in late June of this year, and you can go ahead and book them right now!

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue has been closed since Disney World shut down in 2020, but it will be reopening again this month! The dinner show will return on June 23rd, and you can go ahead and book your dining reservations right now.
The show will return with some new things, like new lighting and audio along with some changes to the script and scenery.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
This is not happening this upcoming week, but Disney did just announce that Kona Cafe will be closing for refurbishment starting on August 15th, 2022. There is no word right now on what exactly will be happening to the restaurant or when it will reopen.
While the restaurant is closed, you will still be able to order select food items through Mobile Order at Kona Island.
