Do you ever wonder HOW much time you spend waiting in line in Disney World?
It’s obviously different for everyone, depending on what you decide to do during your trip. But, you probably end up waiting in more lines than you think you will — lines to check-in to your hotel, for transportation, to scan into the parks, to check-out of stores, for quick-service food, for the bathroom, and obviously, for rides. Ride lines can be a huge time suck during your trip, so let’s take a look at the average wait times from this week in Disney World to get an idea of how much time YOU could spend waiting for your favorite attractions soon!
Magic Kingdom
Let’s head to Magic Kingdom! This week, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had the longest average wait time with 73 minutes!
After that, we had Jungle Cruise at 63 minutes, Peter Pan’s Flight at 62 minutes, Splash Mountain at 50 minutes, Space Mountain at 50 minutes, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at 41 minutes, Haunted Mansion at 36 minutes, Pirates of the Caribbean at 35 minutes, Astro Orbiter at 34 minutes, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at 33 minutes, and Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at 32 minutes.
Next, we had Tomorrowland Speedway at 24 minutes, “it’s a small world” at 21 minutes, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid at 18 minutes, Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini at 16 minutes, Magic Carpets of Aladdin at 16 minutes, Mickey’s PhilharMagic at 15 minutes, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant at 14 minutes.
Then, we saw Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at 13 minutes, Mad Tea Party at 10 minutes, and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel at 10 minutes.
And rides that only had wait times in the single digits were Carousel of Progress at 4 minutes, Liberty Square Riverboat at 3 minutes, and Tom Sawyer Island at 1 minute. Rides with no waits were Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, Enchanted Tiki Room, and Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.
Magic Kingdom has the most rides of any of the four Disney World parks, so it’s where you can get the most bang for your buck when it comes to using Disney Genie+ to skip some lines. Especially with these upcoming busy summer months, skipping a few lines during your Magic Kingdom day can save a BUNCH of time! Remember, starting June 8th, you can only buy Genie+ on the day of your park ticket, starting at midnight. You can make your first Lightning Lane reservation at 7AM.

EPCOT
Over in EPCOT, the ride with the longest average wait was Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at 79 minutes.
Then, we had Frozen Ever After at 74 minutes, Test Track at 64 minutes, Soarin’ at 34 minutes, Mission: SPACE at 32 minutes, Spaceship Earth at 17 minutes, Journey into Imagination at 14 minutes, Living with the Land at 13 minutes, The Seas with Nemo and Friends at 12 minutes, Turtle Talk with Crush at 12 minutes, and Gran Fiesta Tour at 10 minutes.
Most of the theater shows in EPCOT had zero waits this past week! These included: Awesome Planet, Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, Impressions de France, and Reflections of China!
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind also opened up in EPCOT officially last week, but there is no average wait time for the new ride because it only uses a virtual queue! To get on the ride, you have to secure a boarding group at either 7AM (and you have to have an EPCOT park pass reservation) or 1PM (and you have to be inside EPCOT). You can also get a boarding group at 6PM if you’re staying for (and qualify for) EPCOT’s Extended Evening Hours on the days the perk is offered. These boarding groups fill up in SECONDS, so you gotta have quick fingers!
But, there is one other way to get on the ride — you can buy and individual Lightning Lane! These also drop at 7AM for resort guests, and then at park open for other guests. You don’t have to have an EPCOT park pass reservation to buy it, as long as you are able to park hop to EPCOT later in the day. These tend to sell out fast though, so you can’t wait too long! As of right now, these individual Lighting Lanes have been $17 per person.

Hollywood Studios
Moving on to Hollywood Studios, Rise of the Resistance had the highest average wait time this week at 110 minutes.
After that, we had Tower of Terror at 103 minutes, Slinky Dog Dash at 88 minutes, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at 71 minutes, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith at 62 minutes, Toy Story Mania at 55 minutes, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at 55 minutes.
And finally, we had Alien Swirling Saucers at 52 minutes, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at 22 minutes, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy at 16 minutes, Muppet*Vision 3D at 10 minutes, and Walt Disney Presents at 8 minutes.
Hollywood Studios has several very popular rides, so you can use a variety of strategies to make sure you get to ride everything you want. You can use Genie+ and book a popular ride first thing like Slinky Dog Dash, then you can also buy an individual Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance. This would give you the flexibility to go rope drop another popular ride like Tower of Terror or Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. But, you can also always try and rope drop Rise of the Resistance so you don’t have to pay individually to skip the line!

Animal Kingdom
Hopping over to Animal Kingdom, the ride with the longest average wait time this week was Avatar Flight of Passage at 104 minutes.
Then, we had Na’vi River Journey at 60 minutes, Kilimanjaro Safaris at 51 minutes, Kali River Rapids at 45 minutes, Expedition Everest at 31 minutes, and DINOSAUR at 23 minutes.
Following behind was Triceratop Spin at 10 minutes, It’s Tough to Be a Bug at 11 minutes, The Boneyard at 0 minutes, and Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at 0 minutes.
If you want to make sure you get on Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom without a super long wait, we would suggest either rope dropping the ride or paying for an individual Lightning Lane. Or, if you’re more into animals, you can use Genie+ for Kilimanjaro Safaris or rope drop that ride instead! The morning is a great time to go on the safari because it’s usually when the animals are the most active (especially now that it gets so hot later in the day!). As for Expedition Everest, there is a single riders line available throughout the day that should help you get right on the ride without waiting in the normal standby line!

That’s your look at the average wait times around Walt Disney World this week! As you can see, Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, and Flight of Passage took the top 3 spots by far, so make sure to keep that in mind when you’re deciding which rides to rope drop or grab some Lightning Lanes for.
