Like the Disney parks, The Walt Disney Company is constantly changing. We’ve seen several leadership changes in just the last few months, including additions to the metaverse team, a new spokesperson, and an executive who left after just months on the job.
Now, there’s been yet another adjustment involving one of the company’s top executives.
According to The New York Times, The Walt Disney Company has fired its most senior television content executive, Peter Rice. Rice was part of the Disney General Entertainment Content, which was responsible for creating over 300 shows for Disney’s various platforms, including ABC, Disney+, Hulu, and more.
This is a major change, as The Walt Disney Company has been putting a lot of emphasis on Disney+ and reaching the company’s lofty streaming goals. Rice was apparently fired due to “an ill fit with Disney’s corporate culture.”
The New York Times reported that Bob Chapek fired Rice in a short meeting this week, despite the fact that Rice had renewed his contract with Disney in August and the contract ran through 2024.
Dana Walden — a chairwoman for entertainment with Walt Disney Television — is expected to replace Rice. We’ll continue to watch for more of the latest Disney news, so stay tuned with DFB.

Curious says
What if Bob fired himself?
J.R. says
Bob Chapek’s contract with Disney expires on February 28th 2023. Hopefully it won’t be renewed and he will be the next person fired at Disney.
The Star Wars hotel is a disaster, Disney’s stock is a mess, and lots of “Guests” at the theme parks are not happy. Also, many “Guests” (including us) will not be renewing their annual passes when they expire later this year
Ronjon says
They fired the wrong guy. Bob Chapek and Josh D’Amaro are the one’e that need to be fired.
Don says
Are they sure they fired the right guy? “An ill fit with Disney’s corporate culture” must mean he stood fast with Walt’s original vision.
Pete says
When does Chapek get fired?
Jennifer Cook says
I really cannot stand all of the changes that Chapek has made to Disney. He definitely does not use the vision that Walt Disney dreamed of for his guests. And as for the firing of poor Mr. Rice, he “ didn’t fit” probably because he disagreed with how Chapek is ruining Disney. Chapek is only seeing green😡. It’s so sad.
Roz says
When is Bob “Paycheck” going to be shown the door?! Can’t come soon enough !
SML says
Too bad there isn’t someone who can fire Chapeck and bring back the magic!
Kimberley says
Looks like Bob is trying to destroy the competition. He sure as heck isn’t saving them money since they’ll still be paying Rice’s salary past the date that Bob’s contract is up. Chapek has ruined Disney.
Gary says
Chapek needs to go also.
Dan says
Too bad Bob doesn’t fire himself.
Charles says
I’m a Disney Stockholder and if we get to vote on his contract renewal, I’m voting NO. He’s destroying Walt’s vision for Disney.
