The summer months are here, which means Disney World is getting very busy! Lots of guests are heading to the parks to celebrate the warm weather and the end of the school year. If you’re among the crowds visiting soon, you may want to be aware of a few important closures!
A lot has been changing around Disney World lately, including some Genie+ updates, reopening attractions, and construction projects. It’s a lot to keep track of, which is why we’re here to help you out! Take a look at everything that’s going to be CLOSED in Disney World next week.
Magic Kingdom
The Harmony Barber Shop in Magic Kingdom has been closed since the parks shut down in 2020. But we have good news here! The barber shop won’t be closed for too much longer — it will be reopening on July 31st, 2022. You can make reservations to get your hair cut here beginning June 28th.
Disney has announced that the shop will have “an extra dose of magic and special pixie dust” for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, so it might be worth a visit even if you’ve already been before.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has also been unavailable in Disney World since the 2020 closures, but this Disney princess salon will be reopening sometime in 2022! Disney hasn’t announced a more specific opening date yet, but we’ll be on the lookout for more information.
One attraction with no opening in sight is the Walt Disney World Railroad. This popular ride has been closed for YEARS, and Disney hasn’t given any word about its reopening.
Although we’ve spotted some testing of the trains, the railroad likely won’t reopen until construction is finished on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run coaster in Tomorrowland. The construction site over there interrupted the railroad tracks, which means the train can’t get through that area.

Animal Kingdom
Finding Nemo: The Musical is a popular show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but it’s been closed for quite a while now. The show is actually being updated to become Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!, which will have characters and scenes from Finding Dory.
The new show will debut THIS WEEK on Monday, June 13th! You can already see showtimes for the musical on Disney World’s website. It looks like the show will run daily at 10:30AM, 11:30AM, 12:30PM, 2:30PM, 3:30PM, and 4:30PM. We can’t wait to head in to check it out!
TriceraTop Spin will be closed all week in Animal Kingdom. From June 13th through June 17th, the dino ride will be unavailable.
But, it looks like this ride will be open again on June 18th!

Hollywood Studios
A couple of popular shows are closed in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Fantasmic! is still unavailable, although Disney has announced that it will reopen sometime in 2022. When it does return, it’ll have some updates like new scenes, characters, and technology.
Over in Toy Story Land, half of Alien Swirling Saucers is under construction. The ride has 2 identical sides (like the Dumbo ride in Magic Kingdom), and one of them is currently closed. You can still ride this attraction using the open side, but wait times might be a little bit longer now that capacity is lower!
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is still closed in Hollywood Studios as well.
Disney hasn’t released any information about when or if this show will return to the park. In the meantime, you can head to Magic Kingdom to find a Little Mermaid-themed attraction: Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid.

Water Parks
Blizzard Beach shut down at the beginning of 2022 for some refurbishments, and the park hasn’t reopened since. Disney hasn’t announced yet when the water park could reopen.
In the meantime, you can head to Disney World’s other water park, Typhoon Lagoon! This spot has a wave pool, a lazy river, and plenty of fun snacks.

Disney World Hotels
Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is in the process of getting 200 new DVC Resort Studios. The new rooms will be located in the Big Pine Key building of this hotel. These studios will have a Mary Poppins Returns theme, and you can book your stay in them now!
The new rooms will be opening in late June of this year. In the meantime, you can still stay at other Grand Floridian Resort rooms.
The fancy Victoria & Albert’s restaurant finally has an opening date as well! Guests can dine here beginning July 28th, with reservations opening on June 20th.
Disney has been busy updating the dining room and menu at this spot, so you can expect to see changes to both when it reopens.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds
The popular Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show has been closed since Disney World shut down in 2020. However, this spot will be reopening soon! The show will officially reopen on June 23rd, and you can book your dining reservations now.
We’ve already seen the full menu for the reopening Hoop-Dee-Doo — it features lots of returning favorites like fried chicken, BBQ pork ribs, and strawberry shortcake!
