Finally, we know what Halloween Time will look like in Disneyland Resort!
After we got a small taste of the holiday from the Halfway to Halloween event, we were anxiously awaiting news about what we could expect from the spooky season! And soon after, it was announced that Disney World’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and Disneyland’s Oogie Boogie Bash would return! Now, we know everything we can expect from the Halloween season in Disneyland!
Halloween will return to Disneyland Resort September 2nd through October 31st! Both parks will welcome seasonal décor, Halloween-themed attractions, special treats, and more! So let’s take a look at everything you can expect to see during this spooky season!
Entertainment
Disneyland
Every single night, from September 2nd through October 31st, guests can enjoy the return of the Halloween Screams.
On weeknights, this show will just include vibrant projections and lights! But on weekends, the show will be packed with fireworks that are sure to waken the spirits!
We’re excited to see the spooky nighttime spectacular return!
Disney California Adventure
Plaza de la Familia will be returning to Paradise Gardens from September 2nd through November 2nd! Inspired by Día de los Muertos, this celebration features live entertainment, festive foods, crafts, and more! You can also catch “A Musical Celebration of Coco,” which honors Coco and the bonds of family, with the help of songs like “Remember Me”
In between performances, you can also take photos with Miguel, who appears in the form of a hand-animated figure, inspired by Mexican folk art. And there will be Mariachi music at Paradise Gardens Bandstand, an art installation, a photo op and Memory Wall at the Arbol de la Vida (tree of life), paper mask designing, and more.
Of course, Oogie Boogie Bash is also returning, on select nights from September 6th through October 31st.
The party entertains guests with the Frightfully Fun Parade, a Villainous Grove, treat trails, and more! Tickets start at $129.

Ride Overlays
Disneyland
Disneyland will once again bring back their Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay! Guests can expect to see Jack Skellington take over the mansion and bring his own festive decor, inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas!
Oh, and be sure to pay attention (and sniff) when you pass by the mansion’s ballroom, as the gingerbread house will also be coming back!
Disney California Adventure
Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween will also be returning this Halloween season! Not much changes to these attractions, but they do get some fun lighting and spooky soundtracks.
And Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! will be transforming into its Monsters After Dark overlay once night falls in the Avenger’s Campus! The attraction fills up with creepy monsters, and some Cast Members get really into the theme! It’s definitely worth the wait!
And that wraps up all of the Halloween ride overlays!
Decorations and Characters
Disneyland
Yes, the iconic, GIANT Mickey Mouse Pumpkin will return to Main Street, U.S.A.! Along with this classic decoration, you can also find more whimsical Halloween décor sprawled out throughout the park.
You’ll be able to meet Mickey and friends in their Halloween attire…
…as well as Jack Skellington and Sally!
And from September 2nd through November 2nd, you can also find a display honoring the traditions of Día de los Muertos over in Frontierland!
Disney California Adventure
Buena Vista Street is packed with fun! Mickey and his friends will put on their best old-fashioned Halloween styles, and take photos with guests! Once it gets dark, the façade of Carthay Circle Restaurant will also come to life with Halloween spooks (thanks to some fun projections). Oh, and you can find the Headless Horseman holding his Jack-o’-Lantern head in the form of a 10-foot tall statue!
Cars Land will light up with frightful light displays once again, and include some of our favorite cars in their “car-stumes.”
Be sure to stop and check out how these characters have transformed their homes to have a Haul-O-Ween twist!
Downtown Disney
Colorful pumpkins will arrive in Downtown Disney as well as part of Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit! Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is a family-friendly pumpkin hunt that will take place from September 9th through October 31st! Grab the game board and stickers for $9.99 (plus tax), search for hidden decorative pumpkins themed around Disney characters, and grab a prize at the end!
And you can also expect to see Halloween decor in the resort hotel lobbies!
Make sure you take a look at Grand Californian’s display! They usually do an amazing job!
