If you’re hoping to enjoy an extra special dining experience at Disney World, character meals are a popular choice!
Currently, there are full character meal options in three of the four parks (the full experiences haven’t yet returned to Magic Kingdom), as well as multiple Disney World hotels. One of our favorite spots to visit here at DFB is Garden Grill in EPCOT, and today, the restaurant made a big menu change!
Garden Grill serves an all-you-care-to-eat family-style feast, and during your meal you can meet Mickey Mouse (in his adorable farmer outfit), Pluto, Chip, and Dale. Located inside The Land Pavilion, this “Harvest Feast” provides a slightly healthier option than most Disney character meals. However, now an iconic part of the feast is changing.
Today, the Disney World website menu was updated to note that one of the entrees served with your meal is now Barbecue-roasted Chicken.
Formerly, this meal came with All-Natural Sliced Turkey Breast with Turkey Gravy, but that has been removed from the menu.
But don’t worry — the rest of the items remain the same! Your chicken will be served alongside a Harvest-Inspired Salad, Grilled Beef with Chimichurri, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, seasonal vegetables, Southern-Style Spoon Bread, and Berry Short Cake.
If you’re hoping to plan a character meal for your next visit, there are several popular options available currently. Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort is probably the hardest to get a reservation for, and Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is pretty popular as well. Keep in mind that some restaurants still haven’t reopened, and some character meals haven’t returned.

Really hoping they’ll start serving breakfast at Garden Grill again someday….

Um, the Southern-style spoon bread is new. It was previously turkey with stuffing and gravy, so I guess the stuffing is being replaced with the spoon bread, which is NOT the same as stuffing. Stuffing is more bread based, whereas spoon bread is cornmeal-based. This is so disappointing. I LOVE getting the turkey & dressing at GG!
Diana says
We actually went to Garden Grill for the turkey and dressing. I know there are a couple of other places for turkey and dressing, but chicken is all over the Disney property. Kinda disappointed.

Nationwide turkey shortage.
Josh says
How about sticky bun bake and potato barrels for breakfast????? Bring it back for the love of all things Holy
Nancy says
I have noticed in previous posts that turkey has been removed from various menus. Is this a turkey supply shortage rather than just a menu change?
Cathy says
I so wish they would bring back breakfast!
Jack says
That’s too bad. I loved the turkey and dressing. I guess Disney can save money with the chicken.

It seems that all of the herb-roasted turkey and other turkey meals have been eliminated from Disney meals on property (I.e. turkey meals at Pop Century). I wonder if the cost has risen, or Disney made a business decision to eliminate it. It’s a shame that this was done. The turkey meal at Pop Century and Garden Grill were highlights.
Deb says
Very disappointing always looked forward to the turkey and stuffing.
Chicken? We eat chicken almost everyday at home for less the cost of the Garden Grill.

This is Disney just wanting to go with the cheapest option for them to buy, even though they make 300% profit on every meal, theres no turkey shortage. They are going to give you cheaper less quality ingredients now and yet make you pay more for it. more money in their greedy managements pockets. I think disney world is the worst its ever been right now. and going down hill even more. going to get worse until new leadership is in place.
CRT says
The turkey shortage is due to the bird flu. Hopefully the turkey will be back again in the future.
Jeff M says
Chicken is a lot cheaper than turkey. Does that mean the price of the meal will drop? Definitely not!
Scott+D says
Bird flu 100% has caused a Turkey shortage. I don’t think I can post links here, but a quick google search shows multiple articles about it.
I’ll agree that Disney hasn’t done everything right lately, but not EVERY decision is trying to screw you over.

The US Turkey farms were/are being hit with an outbreak of Bird Flu in 2022, which means the supply of turkeys is down over 30% domestically and dropping more. Now add onto this the current supply chain issues, and struggles for farmers to get employees to process the birds and the consistent availability of turkey goes down and the cost goes way up. When things settle down again, we may see a return of turkey onto the menu.

This has always been out fave before covid. Went in April 2022. Was really disappointed. The buns were always amazing. Big and fresh with a glaze on top. We got tiny little grocery store tupe dinner roles. Dry and bland. Food was ok but portions on our family plate were smaller. The dessert was now brought as 2 tiny plates of cake instead of how it was in the pan all hot and you served yourself. Cost me $140 with tip for 2 of us. Will not go back.
