Disney’s newest cruise ship — the Disney Wish — will officially set sail on July 14th, and there are SO many cool things to do on board.
From the first Disney attraction at sea to new theater shows to exclusive dining, there seems to be a little something for everyone on this new ship. It just arrived at its home port earlier this week, and now, we have a FIRST LOOK at some of the dining aboard the Disney Wish!
There is a lot of really cool dining on the ship, like a Frozen dining experience and a Marvel one! But, there are also some restaurants dedicated to the spirit of innovation and visionary storytelling by Walt Disney himself — 1923 and Marceline Market. And Disney just revealed a first look at these two spaces!
1923 is the year that Walt Disney and his brother Roy Disney started the The Walt Disney Company, with animation at its heart. It was Hollywood’s first cartoon studio! This spot is one of the three main dining venues families will enjoy each night on board the Disney Wish.
The restaurant combines classic Hollywood glamour with a dash of Disney whimsy, giving an inside look at the evolution of Disney animation. Along the walls and glass cases around the space, there are more than 1,000 drawings, props, and other tools of animation showcasing 16 Disney films that embody the ship’s themes of enchantment and wish fulfillment, along with holding a significant role in the history and legacy of the Walt Disney Company. The films include:
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs — the world’s first feature-length animated film ever.
- Fantasia — a boundary-pushing project that introduced Fantasound (the precursor to stereophonic sound).
- Cinderella — which ushered in a new golden age of animated features.
- The Little Mermaid — a generation-defining classic that paved the way for Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and other animated tales.
The menu also pays tribute to the company’s roots in California, with dishes inspired by the fusion of flavors found throughout the state. It will have a unique blend of Asian, European, and South American cuisines and a superlative selection of world-famous Napa Valley wines.
Next, let’s talk about Marceline Market! Walt Disney grew up on a farm in Marceline, Missouri, and the town inspired many of the stories he told later on as an adult. It’s also the town that’s the inspiration for Main Street, U.S.A. in the Disney Parks!
On the Disney Wish, Marceline Market is a food hall where guests can enjoy casual, walk-up dining throughout the day. Each of the 10 food stalls is themed to a Disney animated story, like Alice in Wonderland and Zootopia. It presents the characters as honorary shopkeepers of the food stalls! They will offer a wide-ranging variety of freshly prepared cuisines, including American classics, international specialties, comfort foods, seafood, soups and salads, vegetarian and plant-based fare, baked goods, and desserts.
