Yes, we’re celebrating the holidays in June. Don’t ask questions, just go with it. 😂
Disney is celebrating Halfway to the Holidays this week, which means we’re about 6 months away from this year’s holiday season! Some of the celebrations include themed treats in the parks and BIG announcements about what’s coming to Disney World in November and December this year. We’ve already learned that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is returning! EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays will be back as well, and we’ve got more information about what this event will look like in 2022.
EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays will take place in Disney World beginning November 25th, 2022. An end date hasn’t been announced, but the festival typically lasts through the end of the year. Along with the announcement that the festival will be returning, Disney shared a few details about what’s coming back as part of the event!
Of course, the holiday kitchens with festive food from around the world will be returning.
You can see a FULL LIST OF MENUS for the festival here!
One of the most popular parts of the Festival of the Holidays is the Candlelight Processional, which is a Christmas show featuring a celebrity narrator and choir at the America Gardens Theatre. Disney has confirmed that the Candlelight Processional will return in 2022, although they didn’t share yet who the narrator will be. Typically EPCOT also has Candlelight Processional Dining Packages, so we’re hoping those return as well!
Santa Claus will be back in EPCOT for the festival! Disney said the jolly fellow will “join storytellers from around the world.” In the past, we’ve seen Santa in the various countries of World Showcase, telling traditional festive stories from those countries.
And one of our favorite parts of the festival will also be returning — the Holiday Cookie Stroll! To take part in the cookie stroll, guests will grab a (free) festival passport, which details the holiday kitchens around the park. This passport has a page for the stroll, with 5 empty spaces available.
Guests will visit the booths that are part of the stroll and purchase a cookie (or more than 1!) to collect the stamps. Once you have 5 stamps, you can show your completed page at a different booth to get a free prize! In the past, you could try all 5 different cookies, get 5 of the same one, or mix and match however you’d like. We don’t know yet which cookies will be part of the 2022 stroll, but we can’t wait to find out!
And a new holiday change at EPCOT this year is that the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is getting a festive update! Disney said, “the Guardians will trade in their classic hits playlist for a mash-up of seasonal jams.” Currently, guests riding this new attraction will hear 1 of 6 songs, so it sounds like those songs are going to be mixed up for the holidays!
That’s everything that we know is returning to EPCOT’s 2022 Festival of the Holidays so far! We’ll keep you updated with more information as we continue to hear the latest news. Stay tuned with DFB!
