Did you know that you can golf at Walt Disney World?
You can! Disney World has three golf courses; Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course, Disney’s Palm Golf Course, and Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. Disney offers classes to young golfers, and DVC members can save pretty big on golf lessons as well. Back in April, we saw Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course close for refurbishment, and now we have a look at how the course will be when it opens back up!
When the course reopens, holes 14-17 will be reimagined by Ken Barker, head of golf course design at One Club Limited. However, the details of the reimagined holes are subject to change, and more information will be released as the project nears completion later this year. The current plan is for all 18 holes of Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course to be completely reconstructed!
The current plan for each of the reimagined four holes is as follows:
- Hole 14 – Currently a par 5, will become a par 4, with a new green location
- Hole 15 – Currently a par 3, will shift location and become a long par 5, dogleg to the right
- Hole 16 – Will shift location and remain a par 4, but will now become a dogleg to the left
- Hole 17 – Currently a par 4, will become a par 3, with new tee box locations
Holes 16 and 17 will now be connected by a wooden bridge through the forest, and new fairway and greenside bunkers will be engineered to accommodate the shifting holes. PGA Tour stars Sergio Garcia and Gary Woodland recently got a peek at the new courses and both walked away pleased and impressed.
We’ll certainly keep you updated as progress on the course continues.
In the meantime, if you’re looking for other lesser-known activities to do around Disney World, perhaps go horseback riding at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, ride in a Hot Air Balloon in Disney Springs, or decorate a cake at Amorette’s Patissiere! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney news!
If you’ve done all 25 of these things in Disney World, we will be SERIOUSLY impressed!
