If there’s one thing we loved to do here at DFB, it’s to try new Disney World snacks!
This 4th of July weekend we’ve tried all sorts of exciting new items like the Apple Pie Éclair from Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs and the American Dream from Fife & Drum in EPCOT. Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew released two new donuts today on their permanent menu, so we headed to Disney Springs to try them!
The two new donuts are the Thalicious donut and the Black Raspberry Beret donut.
Let’s start with the Thailicious donut, which is a glazed donut with black sesame icing topped with charred pineapple, spicy chili lime garlic peanut butter topping, sweet chili sauce, Micro cilantro, and sesame seeds.
We…did not like this donut. All of the parts on their own were fine, but when you put them all together, it just creates an interesting donut experience. The black sesame icing is delicious, but we didn’t like any other other stuff on top. These toppings would be good if we put them on chicken, but not so much on a donut.
We didn’t really taste any spice on the donut, but we did taste the flavor of the chili. This donut would be better if it was just the black sesame icing and sesame seeds, because we did really enjoy those elements. Overall, we did not really like this donut at all, and think it probably would be better if the chili lime garlic topping was removed.
We did like the Black Raspberry Beret donut better. This is a glazed donut with black raspberry icing, topped with black raspberry jam, goat cheese buttercream frosting, fresh berries, mint, and Frosted Flakes.
The black raspberry icing was very good, it’s not overly sweet and really stays true to the flavor of the berry itself. The goat cheese buttercream frosting, on the other hand, was a little weird. We wouldn’t recommend eating just the frosting on its own, but it’s good when paired with the berry icing.
The Frosted Flakes on top weren’t stale and gave the whole donut a nice crunch, and we were happy to find that the berries were really fresh, as well. We do wish that there was more mint on top, though! The raspberry jam in the middle really just pulled the whole donut together. Overall, we thought that this donut was really summery!
We really liked this donut, but we wouldn’t order it if you don’t like goat cheese, as that flavor’s prominent in the donut. These donuts were $6.50 each at Everglazed. If neither of these sound good to you, Everglazed has lots of other donuts you can try, so it’s worth checking out the next time you’re in Disney Springs.
If you’re looking for other sweet treats in Disney Springs, try heading over to Gideon’s Bakehouse, where you can get giant, almost half-pound cookies. The flavor of the month for July is orange, so you’ll be able to try several limited-time items for the month. Make sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney food news and updates!
