You never know what’s gonna happen at Disney World, and we’ve come to expect the unexpected!
From ride closures, to crowds, to wait times, to weather, you should be prepared for whatever might come your way in Disney World! Sometimes, your favorite ride closes unexpectedly, and you can’t do anything about it. This Hollywood Studios ride has seen a lot of closures lately, and we got some more details!
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is a popular indoor roller coaster featuring the musical stylings of none other than Aerosmith, who take you on a high-speed ride through Los Angeles to their concert. This launched coaster takes riders from 0 to 57 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds, with the possibility of hearing one of five different Aerosmith songs.
Unfortunately, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has been experiencing some issues recently. We saw several big closures in January and April (a few times!), and again in July. The ride shut down twice in one morning on July 3rd and we received some answers from a Cast Member about these frequent closures. In the past, we’ve been told that these closures were due to technical difficulties, but there’s a possible reason behind that.
The Cast Member told us that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster hasn’t gotten a full refurbishment since Disney World reopened, which probably explains why it’s been experiencing so many technical difficulties. Occasionally, Disney attractions close for refurbishment for general maintenance and freshening, as well as for safety reasons. Many rides close briefly for refurbishment every few years.
We’re wondering if this means Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster could be headed for a lengthy refurbishment. Currently, there are no scheduled plans for refurbishment on Disney World’s calendar, but that doesn’t mean it’s never happening. Earlier this year, Expedition Everest closed for a 3-month refurbishment, so we might be seeing this coaster headed for a similar fate.
If you’re headed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this is a ride you’ll want to keep an eye on. Be sure to check the My Disney Experience app to see when the ride goes down or to check on the wait times when the ride is running.
We’re sad to see such a great ride down, but at least we know why it’s happening, and hopefully, RNRC gets some TLC soon. There are tons of other amazing rides in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the best way to get on all of your favorite rides in this busy park is by using Disney’s Genie+ system. It’s not just Rock N Rollercoaster. It’s almost every A Ticket ride in Hollywood Studios. HS has the worst ride performance of all the Parks. It also has some of the newest rides. Rise is down several times every day. Mickey and Minnie Railway is down several times every day. Tower of Terror is down several times each day. Are you seeing a pattern here?
It’s a wonder to me that every guest that enters the Park can see the continuing problems but that the Disney Execs can’t
Wonder why Disney stock has fallen by half in 2022, Look no further than this mess Disney has created with the Parks. Charge more, give less. Less benefits to stay on property at an overpriced hotel with less and less services. Less hours, less Park Hopping, Less food, smaller serving sizes, Less Magic Hours. No Fast Pass, No Magical Express, no housekeeping, no airport check in, no baggage service, no Magic Bands, Higher gate prices, Higher food prices, pay for lighting lane benefit’s, pay per ride, Party Price way up, wait time for rides way (when they are running, and if you pay for a ride but it is down, like Rise, Rat, Guardians, you don’t get your $15.00 per person back, even Tho it’s Disney’s fault)
Disney is in self-destruct mode, and Disney is not listening. I would welcome a discussion from someone who cared at Disney, But I don’t believe there is a single person in charge of anything that cares what the Guests think, so long as people are going, and they are robbing you of your hard-earned dollar. But it’s starting to crumble and hit home as stock dive.

Well..that maintenance cost a lot. That money is needed elsewhere..say upper management bonuses.

Being right next to tower of terror, half of which is closed virtually all of the time and will continue to be so into the future, it’s no surprise that this ride is over utilized and worn down.

While it’s true that Covid hurt businesses in a horrendous way everywhere, including Disney, I feel it has a lot to do with Disney management, especially Bob Chapek, who only seems to be interested in sucking as much money out of the pockets of Disney park visitors! Obliviously, Disney’s board of directors evidently think along the same lines, otherwise, they wouldn’t have renewed his contract again! Disney’s magic is still there, but greed is slowly sucking the life out of it!

“There are tons of other great rides at Disney Hollywood Studios!” Seriously!!!???? Tons!!?? There are 8 !! And many are not “great”. In all but MK, with 24, they average 9 rides per park. When a major one goes down repeatedly, it’s a big deal. Wait times are bad enough. I’m sure Disney appreciates you pitching Genie+ for them!! Really not worth it if major rides keep breaking!
