Disney’s Animal Kingdom is special in a very unique way.
It’s the first Disney park dedicated almost entirely to animals, bringing guests face to face with animals they can pet, wild animals they can see close-up, and animals being taken care of by veterinarians in real-time. It’s also exciting when a new baby animal is born in the park!
Dr. Mark Penning (Vice President: Animals, Science and Environment for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products), Â recently shared photos on Instagram of a new baby red river hog that was just born in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. So get ready to say “AWWWWWWW” because look at this precious baby.
Dr. Mark wrote, “Under the watchful eye of our amazing animal care team, this little piggy will remain backstage bonding with mom and dad.”
The red river hog is a wild pig that lives in the rainforests of Africa. If you want to see more, Dr. Mark promises to share more updates on the precious baby. Note that it will probably be some time before guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be able to see the piglet.
However, there are plenty of other animals to see at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In addition to Kilimanjaro Safaris, did you know there are also several walking trails with views of animals? You can visit a variety of African wildlife, including gorillas, on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. You can see animals from Asia, including majestic tigers, on the Maharajah Jungle Trek.
Want to know more about the animals you see at Animal Kingdom? Be sure to talk to Cast Members on the trails — they love answering questions and talking about every species you can see in the park! You’ll certainly learn something you never knew about wildlife!

Boy, tassle eared Red River Hogs are certainly not known for their looks, but that baby really is kind of cute!
