Rob says
Disney (especially Disneyland) created their own monster with the annual passes. Before they ended the old passes, Disneyland had over a million pass holders. As mentioned in the video, the majority of the visitors were pass holders. But this what Disneyland wanted at one time because back in the 80’s Disneyland was experiencing less visitors on a daily bases (they were even closed on Mondays because of the lack of attendance). So they came up with the annual passes to bring more guests in more often. It’s not the pass holders fault that Disneyland let become what it turned in to. But yet Disneyland allowed it to get out of hand and just get bigger and bigger, they screwed the pass holders by canceling the passes altogether and bring in a new system at a higher price with much more limitations thanks to Bob Chapek and his Minion’s
But the funny part is, that most of the old pass holders bought the new passes regardless of the changes and the price. So much so that they have suspended sales for new passes as mentioned in the video. The new system would not be so bad if they didn’t have the reservation system (and the so-called “pass holder ghost calendar”) were the days are sold out for pass holders, but open for single day tickets even though it is not a blackout date. This why they are being sued. They say the reservation is for crowd control. But we all know it is for Disneyland to only staff the minimum employees on a certain day.
So in my opinion, get rid of the reservation system and pass holders will be much happier. So like before, they can go any day at any time as long as it is not a blackout date. In my experience, Disneyland had to close the gates twice in over 20 years due to guest capacity. So let it be like before, first come first serve. But as the video implied, it seems Disneyland doesn’t care about pass holders anymore and/or don’t even want pass holders at the parks.
