Did you know that Disney World isn’t the only park celebrating a milestone birthday?
Disneyland Paris turned 30 this year, and to celebrate Disney has whipped up all kinds of special entertainment, merchandise, food, and more! We recently took you with us to Skyline Bar at Disney’s Hotel New York — The Art of Marvel located in Disneyland Paris Resort, and now we’re hopping over to Walt Disney Studios Park to dine at Bistrot Chez Rémy — let’s see what the little chef has cooked up for us!
Atmosphere
As soon as you walk into Bistrot Chez Rémy, you’ll notice that things might seem a little…off. That’s because this restaurant is themed like you’ve been shrunken down into rat size! There are large floral accents on the ceiling, paired with massive twinkling lights. It’s inspired by the Disney and Pixar film Ratatouille, about an adorable little rat with big dreams of becoming a chef!
When we say everything in this restaurant is huge, we mean it — even down to the plates and forks! Each table is a little tin or other small item that’s been supersized.
And of course, Chef Rémy can be found if you know where to look for him as well! Hopefully all those cooking lessons working at Gusteau’s paid off… .
Chef Auguste Gusteau’s Anyone Can Cook book can be found here too, and it only makes sense since that’s where Remy got his inspiration!
Alright, now that we know Remy can decorate a restaurant, let’s see if anyone really can cook!
Eats
We started off with the Fresh Bread Basket, served with a side of butter. Of course, bread in France is known for being excellent, and this was no exception. It was warm, perfectly crusty on the outside, and nice and soft on the inside. You know the scene in Ratatouille where they mention you can tell a loaf of bread is good based on how it sounds? This was like that!
Then, we moved on to the Mixed Greens Salad, served with cantal, tomato confit, poached egg, crunchy radishes, and a vegetable vinaigrette. We thought this was going to be an interesting take on your typical house salad, but it was lacking flavor overall. The tomato confit was probably the most flavorful part, and the poached egg would have been excellent mixed with the dressing — but there wasn’t enough on the salad for us to tell.
Next up was the Herby Roast Chicken served with Potatoes and Onion. If it sounds simple, that’s because it is. The chicken breast was juicy and had a decent amount of flavor, but we wished there was more of that herby flavor that could have taken this dish to the next level.
We have no complaints about the potatoes, other we felt it was a pretty small portion. As far as the onions go, we didn’t notice any on our plate, but the potatoes did have an onion-y flavor, so that could have just been a fluke.
For a true French dining experience, we ordered the Grilled Steak, Ratatouille, and French Fries. The steak was decent, but not anything special. For a nicer, table-service restaurant we were hoping it would wow us. It still had great flavor and was cooked perfectly, but it just fell a little short of expectations.
Of course, we had to try the ratatouille — it was really yummy! There was a nice herby flavor to it with a tomato-y finish and we really felt the dish was super flavorful for being so simple. We could have eaten more and are glad that Chef Rémy’s signature dish didn’t disappoint!
And finally, we had to finish it all off with dessert! We ordered the Chocolate Lava Cake, and while we didn’t really get any of that ooey, gooey, molten chocolate most expect with a lava cake, it was still good! It was pretty dense and had a mousse-like filling on the inside, which may have been because ours was served at room temperature.
It was a great end to our meal, though, and did have that rich chocolatey taste that most lava cakes do!

Overall
The ambiance is really what brings draws people into Bistrot Chez Rémy, and we can absolutely see why. It’s whimsical, fun, and really leans into the Ratatouille theme. But, we weren’t wowed by any of the dishes we tried. For a restaurant themed after a movie all about cooking and learning to become a chef, we had high hopes for Bistrot Chez Rémy. It’s also important to note that they don’t do substitutions at this restaurant, so what you get is what you get! Overall, we had a decent meal and would go back to this spot for a break from the parks, but not if we’re looking for a truly gastronomic experience!

Was the reviewer American or European? Just asking as France generally has smaller portions than the US or even UK.
