There’s one Disney World park that has been BUSTLING for several years now…Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
Thanks to new additions like Toy Story Land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, guests are eager to visit this park and check out everything that they’ve missed since their last trip. Because it’s so busy, there’s typically lots of news to report from this park, and that’s what we’re doing today — catching you up on what’s new in Hollywood Studios!
Hollywood Studios Construction Updates
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Let’s start out with some construction updates in Galaxy’s Edge! We’ve been keeping an eye on the water fountain next to the bathroom because typically, there’s a little Star Wars creature in here called a Dianoga. (You would recognize it from the trash compactor scene in A New Hope.) However, the Dianoga has been missing for quite a while now, and recently, we noticed that the window had been covered up! We’ll keep watching to see if it returns.
Also in Galaxy’s Edge, we’ve been watching construction progress on what appears to be a setup for the new bounty hunter game with MagicBand+. MagicBand+ is set to debut sometime this summer, although an official date hasn’t been announced. Construction for the bounty hunter feature has been happening behind these bushes, and we’re interested to see what the new game looks like!
Hopefully, we’ll find out in the coming weeks how this interactive offering works. We can’t wait!
Hollywood Boulevard
We also spotted some construction on Hollywood Boulevard a few days ago. Here, parts of the sidewalk were being replaced near Keystone Clothiers. Guests could still walk alongside the building and on the main road, and construction crews weren’t out working on the project during the day.
It’s not uncommon to see small projects like this happening throughout the parks from time to time. They typically only last a few days and don’t really affect operations.
Hollywood Studios Attraction Updates
Star Tours
Over by Star Tours, the giant AT-AT was getting in the summertime spirit! How, you might ask? Well, it was misting and spraying water from its head, to help guests cool off down below.
So if you find yourself sweating in Hollywood Studios in the next few days (which is likely because the heat index is WILD), head on over here and enjoy a short reprieve!
Echo Lake
One of the fun hidden details of Hollywood Studios is the “pull the rope” gag next to Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. The sign says “Warning! Do NOT Pull Rope” but the “not” is crossed out, so obviously you’ll want to pull it! However, this week, we noticed something peculiar…
…that’s right, the rope was missing! Typically when you pull the rope, you’ll hear sound effects from down below, so it’s possible that there’s just a small refurbishment happening with this fun detail. We hope the rope returns soon!
Hollywood Studios Merchandise Updates
Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities
And last but not least, let’s discuss merchandise! In Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities you can typically find some very interesting souvenirs, and this week was no exception. Some fancy new jewelry arrived, including this Crimson Dawn Necklace for a whopping $295!
For a slightly cheaper option, you can buy the Resistance Insignia Ring for $125. But you’ll need even more moolah to purchase the Weave Bracelet for $450. However, the most expensive of all was the Alderaan Royal Necklace that rings up at a staggering $2000. Wow!
In addition to those, there was a new Beacon Bracelet for $150.
You might need to save up a little extra vacation money if you’re planning to shop in this store!
Tatooine Traders
Speaking of Star Wars merchandise, we spotted a new Darth Vader Hoodie for Kids in Tatooine Traders at the exit of Star Tours. The fun pattern features Vader, the Death Star, a Stormtrooper helmet, and different logos. You can pick it up for $39.99.
That’s everything new we saw in Disney’s Hollywood Studios this week! We’re really interested to find out more about that MagicBand+ launch soon. A few months ago, Disney released some accidentally and we were able to purchase one. We’ve been testing it out around the parks, but it seems that the features aren’t fully active yet. We’ll have to wait until the official release!
If you’re visiting Hollywood Studios soon, make sure to come prepared. This park is particularly busy because of all the popular rides and new attractions, and it can be challenging to score a Disney Park Pass reservation for certain travel dates. It can be a bit overwhelming in Hollywood Studios at times, but be patient and you’ll make it through the day A-OK!

Ken says
That is not all that is missing. How about the iconic Image like the Mickey Ears water tower, or the Sorcerer’s Hat or something that says this is Disney’s Hollywood Studio’s instead of just another amusement park. The imagineers continue to miss the mark.
