Do you know what to do if your flight gets canceled to Disney World?
With lots of flights getting canceled all the time — including flights to Orlando — you should probably have a plan in place, just in case. Everything from your tickets to your park pass reservations, your hotel reservation to your advance dining reservations could be affected, so knowing Disney World’s cancelation policies for these things is ALWAYS a good idea.
The good news is that Disney’s Customer Service team is typically good about working with guests when they have travel issues. Here are Disney World’s current cancelation policies.
Hotel Reservations
Room-Only Reservations
Disney’s current policy regarding hotel room-only reservations is that you can cancel with no penalty up to five days before the first day of your stay. You can cancel or modify a reservation online or by calling 407-934-7639.
However, most flight cancelations are last-minute, meaning that you might not fall within that 5-day window. That means that you will not receive a full refund if you have to cancel your trip. However, if you can modify your stay instead (for example, when another flight is available) Disney may accommodate you.
Changes to reservations can be made, but just know that if there’s a change in price for your hotel stay from one day to the next, you will be charged the amount of the increase in price.Â
Keep in mind this is also subject to availability.

Vacation Packages
For room and ticket packages, the policy is a little different. You have to cancel your reservation within 30 days of the first day of your stay to get a full refund on your trip. For cancelations made 2 days to 29 days prior to your arrival, a refund will be issued MINUS a cancellation fee of $200 per package. For cancelations made 1 day or less prior to guest arrival, you lose everything you paid for the trip.
However, you can make changes to your reservation (subject to availability), although changes made less than 30 days before your arrival date are subject to a $50 fee per package. Also, you will have to pay for any price increases, if necessary.
There is a Hurricane Exception to the policy, though. If a hurricane warning has been issued by the National Hurricane Center for Orlando or where you live within seven days of your arrival day, you maybe be able to cancel or reschedule your vacation package.
Your best bet is to contact Disney as soon as you know your flight has been canceled so that Disney can work with you to make alternative arrangements.
Here’s What To Do If Your Flight To Disney World Is Canceled
Advance Dining Reservations
Each Disney World restaurant has its own cancelation policy, but most will allow you to cancel without a fee if you do so more than 2 hours ahead of the reservation. You can cancel a reservation online or by calling (407) 824-1391. If you need to cancel within 2 hours of the reservation, though, you may be charged a cancelation fee, depending on the restaurant. (Note that the policy used to be that you’d be charged a fee if you canceled within 24 hours of the reservation, so this recent change allows for more flexibility.)
Not ALL restaurants are so lenient, though. Victoria & Albert’s Restaurant charges a $100 per person cancellation fee for reservations canceled within FIVE days of the reservation. Those who cancel on the day will be charged full price.
Here Are The Easiest Ways to Modify a Disney World Dining Reservation
Park Tickets
Disney World tickets are nontransferable and nonrefundable, so you cannot cancel a ticket or get a refund for it. However, you can often use unexpired tickets in the future. Do note that tickets expire 14 days after their first use, so keep that in mind.
The Hurricane Exception also applies to tickets.

Tours
Each Disney World tour has its own cancellation policy, but most require cancellation at least two days before your reservation or you lose the entire cost of the tour. For example, here’s what Disney’s Keys to the Kingdom Tour says:
There is something you can do BEFORE your trip that could help you get a full refund — or at part of a refund — if you have to cancel a hotel, ticket, or tour due to a flight cancellation. First, check with your credit card company — many travel rewards credit cards offer some kind of travel protection insurance. For those that don’t, you can shop around for travel insurance to cover these unforeseeable costs.
Also, make sure to check your flight information on your airline’s website or through its app at least several days before your flight. Some flights are getting canceled ahead of time, which would give you more wiggle room if you need to cancel or modify a Disney World trip.

Chrystie has sound advice about insurance & as much as I enjoyed ( & admired) this video I would not do a “2” Day visit…need more time to fly in from Chicago & actually attempt to embrace the “Magic”..!..;-)

“If you need to cancel on the day of, though, you may be charged a cancellation fee, depending on the restaurant.”
Every single one of my reservations say a cancellation fee will be applied unless cancelled at least one day before.
