Many things have been changing in Disneyland over the past several months.
Matterhorn in Disneyland Park
New characters have show up in Avengers Campus, we’ve seen a bunch of new snacks, and fireworks and parades have returned. But, while many things are opening back up, some things are closing, including one classic ride that’s about to shut down!
The Matterhorn Bobsleds will be closing in Disneyland Park on August 8th. The closure is for a refurbishment, and there is no end date listed.

The Fantasyland attraction was the first roller coaster-style attraction in Disneyland and opened in 1959. So, you can imagine after being open for all of those years that it needs regular maintenance!
While we don’t know when the refurbishment will be over, we do know that it will be closed through at least August 30th, according to Disneyland’s calendar (which is as far ahead as the calendar goes at the moment).

Curious about other construction projects in Disneyland? One of the biggest ones coming up is the transformation of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — a ride themed after The Princess and the Frog. The ride should open in late 2024, but we do not know for sure when the ride will close down to begin its makeover.

The Haunted Mansion will also be getting a makeover soon, transforming into Haunted Mansion Holiday for the remainder of the year. It will close down on August 15th and reopen on September 2nd with its festive look themed to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas!

I’m so disappointed!! It’s our first trip to Disneyland and so many rides will be closed during our visit. I get that it has to be done, but why so many at one time. 😞
Didn’t they just close for refurbishment?
I hope it won’t be a long refurbishment. We are coming the last two days of August and have never been to Disneyland so we would love to ride it. Haunted mansion will be closed too but I have done that before in Florida years ago.
